Every other retailer in existence may have had an awful holiday season, but Amazon says it was its "best ever." [MarketWatch]

I bought about 2/3 of my Christmas gifts on Amazon! Great prices, even though I have to pay sales tax. (Kansas)

I understand that we're all SUPPOSED to pay taxes on internet purchases, so I just tell myself that I'm "doing the right thing" to avoid feeling screwed over.

Love their service.

I bought about 1/3 of my gifts on amazon - this place can't be beat to often for the deals they have.

100% of gifts from Amazon. Started shopping the Gold Box and Lightning deals in October. Saved money, no taxes, always got free shipping, but more importantly... saved time!

Zero percent of gifts bought on the Internet. I like to think that I helped some poor retail goon keep his job so that the economy doesn't slide that much further into the crapper. You all should be ashamed of yourselves, trying to make retail goons starve to death like that!

Yeah, I bought a crapload of stuff from Amazon. Low prices, huge selection, free shipping - goodness gracious, there's no reason not to other than lack of instant satisfaction.

Plus when I'm sending the stuff right to an out of state recipient I don't end up paying those evil corrupt whoreson bastards in Sacramento any sales tax, and that's sufficient reason it itself.

I also bought everything from Amazon. With free 2 day shipping as a prime member and giftwrapping for my out of state family, it works out great. Plus, it keeps me in a job and supports the local economy.

I bought a lot of small items on Amazon, but nothing expensive. The fact that Amazon is bragging about number of items sold but not dollar revenues says to me that Amazon did not actually have its best holiday season ever.

Any company that gets you to a live person within one minute of calling customer service the day after Christmas deserves to be #1. You rock, Amazon!

Oh, Monoprice did that too.

I set up an Amazon Associates account and put a wishlist widget on my website. Asked my family to buy through that for any gifts for me. Got a nice little bit of earnings which I'll use to take them to dinner.

@Mike8813: I live in Kansas and work in Missouri, so I have Amazon purchases shipped to Missouri. Since I pay income taxes to two states, I don't at all feel bad about it.

In the package delivery business, it definitely felt like Amazon > everyone else. Even over eBay!

@Posthaus:

I forgot, it's worth menitoning I have a feeling it was at the expense of traditional catalog retailers. Particularly, I really did not see a lot of food stuffs - from places like Hale, Swiss Colony, and Harry and David. I'm left to wonder how well or poorly they did this year.

Amazon delivered everything on time and well packaged. The Creative Vado for my godson was out of stock when I ordered it, but they got a shipment on 12/22 and got it to me by 2nd day air in time for Xmas day. I bought some stuff from Buy.com as well, and they customer service and shipping is so pathetic in comparison.
