Title: "No Pictures, Buddy"
Caption: "I came across this game of 3-card Monty on the sidewalk in front of Caesars Palace. He had close to a dozen people crowded around and kept everyone entertained as he took their money. Those are $100 bills in his hands.

After I raised my camera and snapped this picture, he said "No pictures, buddy. No pictures, buddy. No pictures, buddy." I didn't say a word, but I just looked at him. After all, it's a public sidewalk. I can take pictures if I want, and it's not like he's going to call the cops for interrupting his illegal came. Then his demeanor changed and he said, "Please."

OK, I'm not heartless. I won't take orders from a street card shark, but I'll relent if someone asks nicely, which he did. Personally, I would've loved to have made some more shots, but I didn't see that happening. "

Title: "Elvis On Parade shot with 5D Mark II"

Caption: "Elvis on a scooterbike at the Arlington Parade of Lights on December 6th 2008. Shot with the new 5D Mark II at the super ISO setting of 6400!!!! I used the 50mm 1.4 lens on it. I like the new 5d a lot. I was so embarrassed because my friend said "hey this thing does video doesn't it...." Well I forgot to skim the manual before leaving the house. I looked and looked at the camera but could not figure it out while in the wild :) This shot was taken only 1.5 hours after receiving the camera and opening the box!. "

I like all of them, but I love the kitchen.

user-pic

@nsv: Me too, I really like that one for some reason. It looks like it could be from any decade.

user-pic

I wonder which Caesars Palace that was in front of?

user-pic

@nsv: That guy keeps a clean kitchen for sure.

user-pic

I'm not sure that the DSLR's do video...Well, maybe the new ones. I always liked it when people complained that they actually had to look through the view finder to take the photo... They couldn't use the display to frame the shot.

user-pic

Please continue with the theme of (at least) one cute chick a week...

user-pic

There's a rude comment just waiting to be said, about the chick and how she's blowing a bubble. But I'll refrain.

user-pic

I love the kitchen one. The bubble one is second b/c the girl is cute =D

user-pic

BTW, did anyone else think "Oz" when they saw the kitchen photo? It just looks a little like Adabisi in prison kitchen.

user-pic

@TemporaryError:
The 5D Mark II does do video. In fact it blows the doors off most dedicated handicams. Expect to see it in the hands of poor film students everywhere in the next year.

user-pic

I can't be the only one who thinks the Elvis one is awesome.

But of the five of them, I think the "No Pictures, Buddy" is most likely to get used first. It's a photo of someone gesturing 'No' with a hand full of cash while scamming people: they HAVE to use it.

user-pic

I don't know why all you guys think that chick is cute. That bubble could be hiding her horribly disfigured teeth and weird jaw/chin.

user-pic

@Canino: but it's such a sadly empty kitchen. i always feel a kitchen should be bustling and messy and active.

user-pic

@melking: fortunately there is a link to the photographer's photostream and there are other pics of the subject there. her teeth and jaw are fine. which is good because she's a musician apparently and this seems to be part of a series of shots for an album cover. she's quite photogenic in my opinion.

user-pic

@melking: As someone who lost some teeth in a bizarre pool toy accident, I take offense to your statements about teeth. Everyday I have to wake up and face a mirror and am reminded that until I can afford to get implants, I will never have teeth that match color, and am reluctant to smile. I admit I used to laugh at jokes about people missing teeth, until I had to chew a mile in their partial.

user-pic

I like the abandoned oven. It looks like a Christo installation.

Nice camera, guy with 5D Mark II! At least somebody is having fun during the recession!
