The NBC Nightly News Grocery Shrink Ray piece I'm in that was to air last night has been pushed back. Will keep you posted as to when its next slated to air.

I may be watching too much CSI in all its variants.
I couldn't figure out why NBC Nightly News had Gun Shot Residue on it....

@ColoradoShark: All these TLAs are so much fun to decode. My favorite for 2 different meanings is EDP. In my world, it's Electronic Data Processing. In my brothers' world (NYPD), it's Emotionally Disturbed Person.

And, speaking of police, the spelling police reported that Ben's comment should read as "...as to when it's next slated to air." They found the missing apostrophe.

GSM = Gun Shot Mist. So don't forget to wash your clothes, too, not just your hands. And who says you can't learn anything from watching tv.

Hey Ben, I have been hearing these commercials for the new mini burgers at Burger King. Are these a result of a GSR? What I mean is, do the two smaller burgers together equal less than a "normal" burger?

Victim of the NBC Nightly News' own Shrink Ray?

Man, I even DVRed the news so I could see this! Bummer. It seems like the GSR has been less active lately...I haven't seen as many products shrinking. It's something I keep an eye out for, too. Is the GSR lying low for awhile?

Nobody likes getting less for their money, but there could be a silver lining if the "shrink ray" starts reducing American portion sizes.

Seriously... when I was a kid you could get a Coke in 8oz or 12oz servings (in glass no less!). 8oz servings were phased out and 12/16oz servings became the norm. Another round of "4oz more!" bumped plastic bottles of softdrinks up to 20oz. You can even get a super sized 24oz.

So during my 34 years on the planet the perceived "normal" size for a soft drink went from 8oz to 20oz.

Now if only there was a way to increase the immediate price of consuming foods containing no nutritional value....

@MitchV:

Right on with that comment. The other day I bought a 'retro' hamburglar (made of glass) glass from mcdonalds the other day. It was amazing to think that this size was once considered a Large! It seemed so, so small comparted to todays sizes.

@segfault: When I first read that I thought you'd been disemvoweled. Heh.

@Juliekins: this summer, a gallon of milk was $4+
now, the same store brand is selling for just under $3

@skotty4: just for comparison's sake, about how many ounces did it hold?
