According to Bloomberg, retailers expect to close 73,000 stores in the first half of 2009, because no one bought enough Christmas presents. Thanks, Marc!

This is a test contextual ad for the SHOPPING category. It should appear on all SHOPPING entries, unless the subcategory has its own ad.

Yeah, thanks, Marc, ya cheap bastard! Thanks for not buying anything. Now all those stores have to close, and it's all your fault.

Thanks for nothing.

LOL! I was thinking the same exact thing.

73,000 stores? That's, like . . well, I won't even pretend to do the math, but it's a lot of jobs lost.

Christmas has been about material possesions for far too long, and the retail industry has used it as a crutch to bolster their lackluster earnings from the rest of the year.
Maybe now they'll realize you can't make up for 360 days of suck with 5 days of crazy.

@Oranges w/ Cheese:

What an excellent point. I hate the total insanity of shopping at crowded locations. Some people do their shopping early. But quite honestly, I have so much family and friends that I find it a burden to buy so many gifts. Even small gifts add up and well my budget is already stretched to the max. These companies expect us to go into credit card debt because its "ungrateful" to not buy gifts.
