Unless you're from the northeast and have 1.5 feet of snow on top of your car, and to the front, rear, and sides of your car... and your car has only approximately 6" ground clearance, and RWD...

@morganlh85: Yeah... eff them elderlies and cripples and folks working 3 jobs... lazy bastards!

user-pic

@weakdome: Or if you are in Chicago/Midwest and have a freeze advisory in effect...

user-pic

@weakdome: Hey now! Us northwesterners are feeling it too :-( I'm not even sure at this point if I'll make it from my home in Seattle to my parents house in a suburb 10 miles south for Christmas.

user-pic

@morganlh85: Oh, right, silly me, I can always find everything I want at the store. Gee, thanks chum, I feel better now.

1-800-contacts? Do people give contacts as gifts? ;)

Hey, if the Post Office and UPS can manage to deliver in that weather, it can't be that bad.

Plus if you need something that badly, weigh your options. You really think whatever they're going to rape you on shipping charges is worth it to get it by then? By all means, go right ahead then.

user-pic

@morganlh85: Are you actually suggesting that procrastinators do something that nobody has REALLY had to do in, like, 10 years? How heartless of you to expect people to leave the house! This is the internet age. I'm staying home.

Put overstock down for the East coast only. I ordered on the 18th in the afternoon and my sister had her present on the 21st. I bet they could make it for before Xmas.

Great Santacon pic as well.

@NHTOB_GitEmSteveDave loves->★: If their loved ones look damned ugly in glasses, they do.

user-pic

@morganlh85: Not so easy! Some of us are snowed in - I just ordered a couple more xmas presents because I don't think I'll be able to head out and buy them here in Portland, OR before xmas....

Lucky me (actually, lucky husband) - Sony's blu-ray player dropped in price by $50 since I looked at it last week & they have free shipping by xmas - SOLD!

user-pic

@dvddesign: Simmer down... many places still have free shipping or at least a free upgrade. This morning I got free shipping from Sony on a DVD player, and then $15 2 day shipping from Amazon - not too bad....

user-pic

@hillsrovey: Global warming will strike any moment now, get out your aresol cans.

user-pic

@unobservant: It's hard to surprise someone when you ask what their prescription is. I would think it would be harder than finding out something like a ring size.

user-pic

@NHTOB_GitEmSteveDave loves->★: Just say, "You look damed ugly in those glasses, babe. How blind must you be to subject yourself to that kind of fashion crime?" ;)

user-pic

Oh gee whiz. ANY business can get your precious gift by Christmas IF you are willing to pay up.

In case you are interested, it costs about $620 to send 150 lbs Next Day Air from the East Coast to the West Coast. For the really desperate types, I can arrange a package from China via Next Day Air for a slightly larger fee.

Festivus for the rest of us!!!

user-pic

@morganlh85: my beloved Amazon.com has beat in store prices by A LOT on quite a few things I wanted to get and had everything to my door in a very timely fashion!

the internets sure has made getting the flu right before christmas a bit less annoying.

user-pic

I ordered from Zappos yesterday at 9am.. (A SUNDAY) and my order arrived TODAY.. Monday!

oh.. and FREE SHIPPING baby!! Is that awesome or what?

user-pic

@unobservant: You could just look on the box or the individual case for each lens. But you'd also have to know the prescribing dr's information, for them to verify. So slim chance on the surprise.

Unless you're getting them the non-prescription kind that change your eye color or have effects like cat's eye, white iris, etc. But I don't know if 1-800-contacts sells those....
