Nice to see Citibank isn't on ANY of those lists....great.

user-pic

Or just buy something at Walmart and get the cash back on your credit card. Rewards AND a fee-free cash advance, as long as you pay it off each month.

I think my grocery store does cash back on credit now, too.

user-pic

Bangor Savings Bank of Maine Unlimited, reimbursements post (almost) immediately

user-pic

My Local Credit union does , Stick with credit unions

user-pic

"Bank of Internet"....Wow, is that based in Nigeria?

user-pic

Seems to me that most of these banks are those that have no brick-n-mortar locations--and no stand-alone ATMs, either--to speak of. With no option but to use someone else's ATM, a fee refund should be a no-brainer.

That said, I'm not gonna be trusting my money to "Bank of Internet" anytime soon.

user-pic

@jonthomasdesigns: My credit union doesn't, but otherwise I agree. Stick with credit unions...

user-pic

Bank of Internet? If I came across an ad for a place called Bank of Internet, I'd immediately be very suspicious.

user-pic

@Rob Weddle: And how! Same with "First Internet Bank". I'll bet their brick-n-mortar is in Nigeria.

user-pic

Fidelity mySmart Cash Checking
Unlimited; reimbursements post same day
I have one and the reimbursements NEVER post the same day, it's always after 2-3 business days.
user-pic

LOL... "BANK OF INTERNET"... awesome. I want to start the Bank of Interwebs and Bank of Blogosphere next!

user-pic

Decatur First Bank, www.decaturfirstbank.com, reimburses 10 ATM fees monthly.

user-pic

I have an account with National Interbank, have for years, and they refund $4.50 - $6.00 a month, depending on what type of account you have.

user-pic

Cambridge Savings Bank (cambridgesavings.com) refunds...up to some limit, I think. Also they have rather good customer service.

user-pic

@PartTimeNinja: Same here. They always take a few days to post.

user-pic

@Rob Weddle: "Bank of Internet" is FDIC insured just like any other bank.

user-pic

i've had no problem with Citizen's bank refunding my ATM fees, but that's because they said they had an ATM in my area and it's been broken for over a year now...

user-pic

Century Bank, local bank located around Dallas/Texarkana, unlimited

user-pic

I'm using 5/3rd and they reimburse up to two non-jeanie run ATM withdrawls per statement period. and free ATM use otehrwise.

user-pic

@Rob Weddle: @310Drew: Claims of legitimacy aside, there's something to be said for (against?) any business without even a modicum of basic marketing savvy.

user-pic

The Bank of Internet slogan:

"Were a series of Jars, in a series of tubes."

user-pic

@summerbee:

Bank of Internet:

I can haz your moneyz nowz?

user-pic

I use PNC and got grandfathered into an old offer they used to have where if you get direct deposit each month, and use bill pay each month, they reimburse all ATM charges (no charge from them and they reimburse the other banks fees). I guess they now require the min. balance. The refunds usually come within 1-2 days.

user-pic

West Coast Bank in Portland - 10 reimbursed non-WCB transactions per month.

user-pic

West Bank and Bank Iowa provide ATM refunds in addition to 5%+ APY for any Consumerist Iowans. :)

user-pic

Mine is Commerce and they're not on here either.

I don't have to pay anything if I use their ATM though.

user-pic

@kellkell: With ATM fees around here that would cover 1.5 to 2 ATM pulls. Ugh.

Glad to see First Republic up there. I've been really happy since I switched to them. When you go to their offices (it doesn't feel like a 'branch') you get to sit down at a desk with someone and take care of your business. So much better than waiting in a queue to talk at someone through bullet-proof glass.

And twice when I was going to bounce a check they called me and asked if I'd have it covered in the next day or so. When I said "yes" they covered the check for me and didn't charge me any fees for it. Take that whatever bank you use!

user-pic

M&I Bank - No fees on third party ATM access and it also reimburses ATM fees charged by ATM owning company.

user-pic

I hope the TD Banknorth bit doesn't mean existing account holders have to have a minimum. They've been quite good to me, occasional service charge notwithstanding (although they aren't as bad as Hudson United Bank, which got assimilated into TD Banknorth), even dutifully refunding about $30 in fees racked up at the Las Vegas extortionary rates. Every now and then, I'll pay for something with my debit card (emblazoned with "NO ATM FEES" across the top half of the card) and the cashier can't believe they refund fees.

I'd still go with a credit union when I open a savings account, unless they can offer better interest rates, which I doubt...

user-pic

@jonthomasdesigns:

My credit union does, unless I use the one credit union in town that refused to negotiate that perk with my credit union.

user-pic

Story aside, I just wanted to observe that the picture above proves what I knew all along: there's just a little guy in the ATM machine counting out my money.

I bet he's the same guy who shuts my fridge's light off, too.

user-pic

@MerlynNY:

Hmmmmm, I have CitiBank and they will refund me ATM fees up to a certain point. Not sure what that point is though. I think maybe $10????

They post monthly so it is debited and then at the end of the month, you will get a seemingly random credit... but it's just a credit of your ATM fees.

user-pic

I have First Republic and got them to waive the $2500 min balance. I was with them for only a few months and told them I wouldn't be able to maintain that much (moved it to an ING high yield savings) and they said ok. Not sure if had to meet a certain criteria to qualify, but glad I asked them before closed account.

user-pic

To update Mechanics Bank info: ATM refunds are monthly.

user-pic

Also, credit unions on the CO-OP Network charge no ATM fees wherever you see the CO-OP logo (mostly western US credit unions).

user-pic

@HogwartsAlum:

Commerce doesn't exist anymore though, it's TD Bank. Was not expecting that the day I logged into my online acct and everything was GREEN.

I do love the ATM reimbursement still.

user-pic

Add BankPlus of Jackson/Southaven, MS.

user-pic

@drjayphd: If they do impose a $2500 minimum, then TD Bank will be adopting this practice from former Commerce Bancorp.

user-pic

Does anyone know if this includes foreign ATMs also. Say I went to Europe and drew money, would there be a fee for that? I despise paying ATM fees or paying for Checkbooks.

user-pic

so chase can buy wamu but not offer me $2 back when i can't for the life of me find one of their 'almost 14,000 nationwide atms'

user-pic

Bangor Saving Bank FTW. I've been using them for years.

user-pic

Being able to have access to your own money without a fee....?! WOW! What a concept! (sarcasm)

Idiots should never charge for this anyway.

user-pic

@Munsoned: For me, usually it takes a few days for the actual withdrawal to post (I know, because my account is set to sell off money market positions to cover ATM withdrawals, and I don't get the trade confirmation for a few days after I take money out). Once the withdrawal posts, I get a reimbursement the next day.

user-pic

TD Banknorth no longer exists... When it merged with Commerce Bancorp, the banks changed their name to TD Bank. Evidently, the bank still offers reimbursements. BTW, anyone who thinks all of these banks are virtual, go down the street anywhere in New Jersey, and you can't miss a TD branch. Ditto for PNC.

user-pic

@HogwartsAlum: I knew Commerce bank did the reimbursement, but it only worked for us when our account was over $2,000 for the entire month. If TD bank changed it to no minimum, that's a great reason to stick with them.

user-pic

@azntg: Ah crap, does that qualify as the financial equivalent of a Dark Quickening?
