@highmodulus: Ben tells you the deals, and then arms you with enough knowledge to be wary. The people can make their own decisions.
@highmodulus: I've never had a problem with Buy.com.
Someone is going to have something bad to say about any company. You have to decide on your own if you're willing to deal with them based on what you read.
@highmodulus: I can see both sides. On one hand, frequent visitors should already know. On the other hand, either excluding troubled companies or placing a Buyer Beware skull-and-crossbones next to the "deal" might be warranted.
In a perfect world, it'd be nice to see offers appearing in Consumerist's Morning Deals be a privilege - why should Consumerist be promoting troubled or consumer-hostile companies (I know: sticky wicket).
So just a quick word about the gap.com deal this coupon is actually meant to work and at all GAP Inc stores -- Banana republic, Gap, Old Navy and Piperlime -- the coupon that this is attached to may not work for several reasons
1) The online code it meant to be used only ONCE
2) The original emailed coupon that is now on the website has been defaced [the name of the person it was sent too and the charity receiving the 5% of proceeds has been removed) possibly making the coupon invalid even for in store use.
My advice is if you want a coupon, just walk into your local BR and ask a manager. I am sure they will have extras
The Gap.com coupon is a one-time use coupon for online (read the fine print) and looks like this offer comes from someone who's a Gap Card credit card holder.
Note this in the fine print: "Offer is not transferable or valid for resale." It's quite possible Gap cashiers might not accept it, if the name on your credit card doesn't match that person's name (try paying cash!), and/or Gap stores will eventually be told to stop accepting all of these.
Buy.com hasn't failed me yet... Now GameStop.com with their phantom charge that no one can figure out where it came from, that's a shady outfit.
@downwithmonstercable: Happened to my husband and two of his friends. Microsoft was pretty quick about sending the shipping stuff and getting it back to him. At the time, they were also giving a free gold membership to Xbox live for those who had the ring of death. I'm not sure if they still offer that though.

I saw the Shoebuy coupon code and thought it said "EMPIREHOLIDAY," and thought to myself, "well, that's not a very nice coupon code for Veterans Day..."
