I saw the Shoebuy coupon code and thought it said "EMPIREHOLIDAY," and thought to myself, "well, that's not a very nice coupon code for Veterans Day..."

user-pic

After the Buy.com story, why are their deals still listed? Same thing with Circuit City.

Shopping smart is what Consumerist is about- and dealing with either company right now isn't smart.

The Dell Xbox coupon expired November 7th, per the link.

@highmodulus: Ben tells you the deals, and then arms you with enough knowledge to be wary. The people can make their own decisions.

user-pic

@highmodulus: I've never had a problem with Buy.com.

Someone is going to have something bad to say about any company. You have to decide on your own if you're willing to deal with them based on what you read.

user-pic

@highmodulus: I can see both sides. On one hand, frequent visitors should already know. On the other hand, either excluding troubled companies or placing a Buyer Beware skull-and-crossbones next to the "deal" might be warranted.
In a perfect world, it'd be nice to see offers appearing in Consumerist's Morning Deals be a privilege - why should Consumerist be promoting troubled or consumer-hostile companies (I know: sticky wicket).

Woot.com's running a two-for-Tuesday deal on the Clique HUE HD Webcam. These run video at 1280x1024 resolution at 10 fps, 1024x768 rez at 15 fps. That's comparable with Logitech's 9000 Pro and 9000 Pro for Notebooks (both I have). Logitech's run for about $90 each. The two-for is $35!

I wooted.

@Womblebug: Yes, but if you enter it, it claims a expiration date of Nov. 11.

user-pic

@MichaelBrazell: It commemorates the veterans of the Clone Wars. >_>

That Henckels knife set from Amazon is stamped steel, made in China, NOT the high quality German knives you might be accustomed to from the maker.

I tried to use the Kmart website to get lawn decorations but it was just horrible and would not let me nor my coworker select the item to put in my cart.

I guess they don't want my money.

for Gap.com - the online coupon code is only good for one use.

Just figured I'd let everyone know.

user-pic

So just a quick word about the gap.com deal this coupon is actually meant to work and at all GAP Inc stores -- Banana republic, Gap, Old Navy and Piperlime -- the coupon that this is attached to may not work for several reasons
1) The online code it meant to be used only ONCE
2) The original emailed coupon that is now on the website has been defaced [the name of the person it was sent too and the charity receiving the 5% of proceeds has been removed) possibly making the coupon invalid even for in store use.

My advice is if you want a coupon, just walk into your local BR and ask a manager. I am sure they will have extras

user-pic

The Gap.com coupon is a one-time use coupon for online (read the fine print) and looks like this offer comes from someone who's a Gap Card credit card holder.

Note this in the fine print: "Offer is not transferable or valid for resale." It's quite possible Gap cashiers might not accept it, if the name on your credit card doesn't match that person's name (try paying cash!), and/or Gap stores will eventually be told to stop accepting all of these.

Metrostyle: Double-breasted long white or red wool coat for $35.99 is actually $59.99.

user-pic

@highmodulus:

Buy.com hasn't failed me yet... Now GameStop.com with their phantom charge that no one can figure out where it came from, that's a shady outfit.

user-pic

That xbox deal looks nice...mine just fried with the 3 rings of death :( luckily it's under warranty for that still, we'll see how Microsoft handles it though...

user-pic

Aww man. That coat is $59.99 with $10.99 shipping. :( I'm disappointed!

user-pic

Where exactly do you insert the code on the gap.com website?

user-pic

@downwithmonstercable: Happened to my husband and two of his friends. Microsoft was pretty quick about sending the shipping stuff and getting it back to him. At the time, they were also giving a free gold membership to Xbox live for those who had the ring of death. I'm not sure if they still offer that though.

The Consumerist takes their news reports and conflicting morning deals very seriously.
