Dang, and I just bought the same DVD-Rs at Worst Buy yesterday for about $3 more.
Oh well.
@battra92: Could always return the WB ones.
@chiieddy: I already used a few.
@battra92: Like that’s stopped anyone.
Darn the Trans-Siberian Orchestra mp3 requires installation of some amazonmp3.exe oh well, I’d rather see them in person anyways and get the cd direct from them.
@Coyote: Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. I make the mistake of downloading Amazon Unbox on my old laptop and it used a lot of juice running sneakily in the background.
@Coyote:
It’s just Amazon’s background media downloader. It’s extremely lightweight and completely benign. It doesn’t even load on startup, just when you start downloading mp3s from Amazon.
@Coyote: Cool! I like TSO, so I appreciate the free download. Especially the fact that it’s MP3 and not some DRM-crippled format.
@Coyote: You don’t have to download that to get the file. There should be a small button below all the ‘how to install this’ nonsense to skip to a page that has a direct mp3 link.
*made the mistake, dangnabit.
A real consumer advocate website
It complains chronically about Buy.Com, and then posts their “sales” daily.
Makes fucking sense to me.
@IrvCrapper: It’s up to the consumer what they buy and don’t buy. I for one have never had a bad problem with Buy.com. But I know what to look out for. Many people have problems with the DMV, does that mean you shouldn’t drive? No, you go in with the knowledge beforehand, and know what to look out for.
@Git Em SteveDave loves this guy->★: Agreed. Fry’s is one of my favorite stores, but like any store, there are “Rules of Engagement” for a pleasant and successful experience. This site is great for finding out what those are. From good deals to EECB’s…
DVD-R’s sold out.
@undefined:
I just started downloaded mp3s from Amazon. iTunes pissed me off when the last time I bought, it was all DRM and I couldn’t rip to a CD to play in the car.
The mp3s will go back into iTunes and onto my iPod lickety split, but not the other way around.
I hope this download lasts until I get home!
@undefined: Yeah, you don’t have to download any Amazon MP3 program. If you skip the program installation, you can just click “purchase” and the song will download directly to your computer. Pretty sweet.
The sale of MP3 Downloads is currently available only to US customers located in the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia.
Hrmmph… wonder if I can find that TSO track on The Pirate Bay? They don’t seem to care whether I’m in Canada, the USA, or anywhere else, and their downloads are DRM-free as well…
/just another Canuck frustrated by the tangled web of international copyright and licensing
@Coyote: The only time you *have* to use Amazon’s downloader is if you buy a whole album; it has to be thru the downloader to queue up all the files.
