Ebay is dead.
Long live Craigslist.
@econobiker: If by dead you mean not dead, you are 100% correct.
@Bladefist: Wrong. Ebay is way more hoops to jump through. Besides, I think meeting the person you buy something from ensures at least some chance of not getting scammed.
@HRHKingFridayXX: If you’re trying to sell something clunky and valueless, then Craigslist is ideal. If it’s something small, then you do yourself a disservice by letting the market determine the fair value, i.e, bidding it up. As for hoops, you fill out some information once, then you’re done.
@jtotheg: And ebay sellers cannot list that they will take money orders???
@Bladefist: LOL. Yes I literally LOL’ed at that. I am having a rough day at work. Thanks for lightening up my day Bladefist.
@econobiker: Yeah, except for the part where not everyone on Consumerist lives in your immediate area, and you’re not supposed to ship things through Craigslist, lest you love being scammed.
@econobiker: While Craigslist is nice, it’s less than ideal in a lot of ways. You can only buy what your area has. Maybe that’s great if you live in NYC or LA, but I’m in Nebraska, and the variety isn’t quite as good.
@econobiker: At least over ebay someone cant give your house away and have a swarm devour all your belongings!
@econobiker: Long live Craigslist…unless you live DON’T live in a densely populated area. I live about 50 miles from NYC and I’m trying to sell my MacBook Pro and I mostly get response by idiots that live in NYC.

Any response on the negative feedback? As a person who has been screwed over on eBay, that’s the fist thing I look at…and yours isn’t that great.
I find it funny that the ebay user bpopken has only an 83% feedback rating. Beware of that ebay scammer!!!!
And here I thought Ben was a paintballer. I could just picture you sneaking onto a field during a corproate event and tagging the CEO in the back.

This reminds me of the Vintage Microwave blog.
Maybe it is time to sell another one of those Nuovo Vesuvio menus I picked up at The Sopranos prop warehouse sale last year. Basically it is all pure profit since I paid just $7 for a whole bag full of stuff and I get about $20 per menu. Ah, I love eBay.
I’ve got a few World of warcraft loot cards from the trading card game available.

I’ll also have some laptop ram (DDR2) up shortly… ish.

From BPopken’s Ebay Feedbacks:
“WE REFUNDED YOU FOR THE ITEM. WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED?”
LOL…What’d you do Ben, EECB them?
Anyone happen to have a spare wacom stylus floating around?
I’ve got a 19″ widescreen LCD monitor, only a year old. $100 plus shipping. I don’t want to put it on ebay, though.
Pandroid@:
What are the specs for the monitor?
No way I’d do business on eBay with someone who has an 83% feedback rating, especially in light of what the negative feedbacks have to say!
@Craig:
Especially from that guy after reading the descriptions.
@Craig: @Adisharr: @gregcuc: 2 negative reviews. The skates had to be pulled because I accidentally put the wrong size. The guy said I didn’t respond to his emails but that’s not true. Shrug.
For those of you who still dare to eBay, this is a great time of year, economic bust or not. Think holiday parties, Christmas presents, etc. — people are looking for nice clothing, gifts, electronics, decorations, etc. Sell, sell, sell! (But do check feedback ratings when doing business.) And, I know everyone seems to hate PayPal, but I find it convenient and safer than any other way. (Money orders… you can be waiting, and waiting, and the buyer says it’s in the mail, and waiting… blah.) I give a 3-day limit on paying up via PayPal after auction end, else the item goes to the next highest bid.
This reminds me I should get listing items this week.

Good luck to you, and pray that nobody sends you an eCheck through Paypal. The entire system is glitched right now and won’t release the funds into your account (even though the funds have cleared the buyer’s account and are sitting in Paypal interest-generating limbo) while sending out repeated emails telling you to upgrade to a Merchant Account since you’re supposedly high volume (10K+ per month).
If you do, you could call into Paypal’s CS and have them tell you they’re working on it, but to not ship the item until you get the payment. No timetable, no help, and just pure annoyance.
Well, that was just the kick in the pants I needed to post this baby…

If anyone is in the seattle area and is into full size arcade games, I have two I’d like to sell. One is a Raiden game but the power supply (I think it’s the power supply) is dead. The other is a fully working Nintendo Playchoice 10 with five games installed. I don’t want to sell this, but my wife hates it
Anyone interested?
@downwithmonstercable: What games are on it right now? That, and do you have current pictures of it?
I’m selling 6 stuff that end in 5 days and have 0 bids on them.
