The Gym Made Of Wood

5650 views

This is an outdoor gym made entirely of discarded orchard tree limbs and other pieces of recycled material. It bills itself as an eco-gym. Neat idea, but I wonder if anyone actually works out in it. [GOOD] (Thanks to c-side!)

It bills itself as an eco-gym

After-all, metal and rubber aren't naturally occuring resources or anything.

I'm gonna go pump me some wood!

Um.

user-pic

I'll contribute some wood...FROM MY PANTS!!

@jodark: well... both take a lot more processing to make into gym equipment. i mean you could do a gym made of wood with a sharp knife if you were dedicated enough.

user-pic

I wonder if you still have to wipe the equipment down afterwards.

@katylostherart: Hmmm... this 50lb dumb-bell feels a little lighter this time. Well crap, stupid termites...

@jodark:

Well considering using rubber and metal that has been disposed of is eco friendly.

"Ow, I got a splinter from the free weights..."

If it rains do they re-mark the weights? Wet wood gets much heavier.

There goes their 15 minutes of fame...

killing trees for stupid stuff is actually anti-eco-friendly right? or did i miss something.

@JohnDeere: my bad it was discarded wood. so i reckon a discarded styrofoam cup gym would be eco friendly too. ill get to work on it.

Looks like a junk yard. Music was annoying.

I saw someone suggest making a simple mallet from a piece of branch with a sub-branch coming off at 90 degrees. It was a pretty good idea, as it is recycling, and the mallet is pretty gentle on the surface you hit it with.

I bet someone's going to steal this gym for firewood.

This is how John Locke stays fit in the off-season.

George Washington's false teeth were made of wood.

FYI

In my mom's town there is a secluded park with circuit training apparatuses. It is made from treated lumber and such- not limbs and recycled items. We went as a family one day and had a blast competing against each other.

@katylostherart: What about all the processing to turn a piece of metal into a knife? They don't grow on trees you know!!

Nice.. this is only an hour from my parents' house in Spain... Those crazy Spaniards.. :-) Useless, but classic Spanish ingenuity..

@Mr_D: Depends. Is it ironwood? =P

@ncboxer:
Yes, it did look like a junk yard. I would be afraid the equipment would break while I was trying to use it.
