I especially love the Craftsman 22-Piece set following on the heels of "Why You Should Never Order Anything From Sears.com" :P

yeh, Craftsman from Sears.com is a superb suggestion, Consumerist :) (nothing against Craftsman tools)

Umm...sorry but a Going out of Business sale is never a good deal (unless it's like the final week). Everything is marked up ridiculously high, and since you can't use those 20% off coupons anymore, you are paying MORE for an item than you would have 2 weeks ago.

I call bait and switch - I just followed the link and the bits are $39.99 not $10 :(

Fergie's The Dutchess- 13 Songs for $1.99

I'll just stuff the $1s in my ears instead, thanks.

I was in Linens and Things yesterday, and most items are only 10% off. I didn't see anything for 30% off. And they quit taking coupons. So, use your 20% off at Bed Bath and Beyond for the same item.

@OtterOtter: Haha, me too. I wonder if this post is more of an ad from dealnews than it is a Consumerist post.

Fergie can SPELL!

Wait a second.... The Consumerist is telling us to buy from Sears.com and Linens and Things... Just after the Never buy from Sears.com story, and the Linens story telling us they mark everything up to mark it down???? Anyone Else getting Mixed Signals Here???

user-pic

I think Consumerist needs to have someone eyeball these "Morning Deals" posts a little more closely. ;-)

@Groovymarlin: Looks like we know what one of Walters' jobs was.

user-pic

@pmcpa2: Maybe it's a test. To see if we're paying attention. You know, it's a Consumerist Pop Quiz (TM)!

user-pic

@chazon64: Officer Barbrady, I call shenanigans! It is $39.99 not $10. So screw you guys, I'm going home!

user-pic

@Groovymarlin: Well, the never order from Sears.com story was a Chris Walters story.

user-pic

@Git Em SteveDave loves this guy-->: I beg to differ - the deal page says $10 but follow the link to Sears:

I actually did shop at Linens N'Things yesterday. I had the Consumerist story in the back of my mind, but I thought I'd go look anyway...I ended up with Christmas table linens for $7 and an appliance that is $28.14 on Amazon, but only $19.99 at LNT and then marked down to $17.99.

user-pic

Isn't a sin to criticize consumerist? I cant remember if Sara PAlin or the comments code says so.

user-pic

@chazon64: I agree - it's coming up on Sears' website as $39.99 - was going through the checkout process, too, just to see if something would change, but nothing ever did.

user-pic

Just a note: The Linens & Things clearance ONLY applies to the US stores, not the Canadian ones - Talking with a store manager, I was told that in Canada, the whole thing has gone to the courts, and they have no idea when or even if they'll be offering the same thing. Guess it's time to head to buffalo.

user-pic

Of course Consumerist wants you to shop at Sears and Linens and Things...as long as you promise to complain about it afterwards. After all, if nobody shopped at these rotten stores, Consumerist wouldn't exist.
