Pricey Stove Recalled For Shooting Flames At Your Face
Here's something you might want to get fixed. Wolf Appliance Inc., of Madison, Wis. is recalling 24,000 of their gas ranges because the 18" oven has a tendency to shoot flames when the door is opened. This has resulted in 15 minor burns.
You can get a free in-home repair by calling Wolf Appliance toll-free at (866) 643-6408 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or by visiting www.wolfappliance.com. The model numbers are P48, PS48 and R48.
Until you get the stove fixed... don't use the 18" oven. The rest of the range is perfectly safe.

@MickeyMoo: Flimsy? I am afraid not... Wolf are built like tanks oppose to cheapo Vikings that everyone seems to want to buy. Its just a bad photo and being shoved back in that opening is not what you do with a $7000+ gas range like this. Most of the poeple who buys these are idiots that couldn't even begin to use the power these range can produce to cook such fine dishes.
Don't forget that it was 3 feet of snow, uphill both ways, and you had no shoes on.
@MickeyMoo: Dude, your Thermador is now an $8000 replacement. Also quite high-end (though yours may not look like it anymore).
Yikes! Gives a whole new meaning to flambe!
I have a big yellow and chrome Philco from the fifties. It came with my house. It works great and the oven is big enough to roast an ox. The only thing I don't like about it is it's electric. Hard to regulate the heat.
That's cool that they are offering the repairs.
@GIZisGOD: wow. um.
So. It sounds like this isn't so much a recall issue as an issue of the people who bought these ranges being INCAPABLE OF HANDLING THE AWESOME POWAH THAT IS THE VOLFE PS48000!!!
Oh noes, I better go call that number to get my $8,000 stove fixed...oh, wait, I own a $400 Kenmore..it's all white. But it has...get this....a digital clock!
I've heard that Sub-Zero refrigerators are about as unreliable and as expensive to fix as Wolf ranges, so I suppose it's not a surprise to find them both on the same website.
Wait...if you left the freezer door open on your Sub-Zero refrigerator, would it put out the flames shooting from your Wolf range?

Would you like your eyebrows seared or just your wallet up in flames?
