Lowe's Halloween Decorations Are Already Sick Of Christmas
Reader Lee says,
The Lowe's in Cary, NC already has Christmas decorations up. Right next to the Halloween decorations.
Argh! It's not even the MLB post-season yet!

This usually doesn't really bother me but now, I've seen to much.
This makes me want to start a rampage of anti-christmas violence against stores displaying such items. I want to go destroy all their Christmas merchandise, swinging a baseball bat at those trees wildly while foaming at the mouth. Bah humbug!
Halloween, the holiday that some Christian extremist groups have 'issues' with, displayed right next to Christmas decoration. Ah, the poetic justice.
Let's learn about how Halloween is actually Satan's birthday, shall we? [www.landoverbaptist.org]
One choice excerpt: Will Jesus Sling Little Children Into Hell For Celebrating Halloween? "You bet He will!" says Pastor Deacon Fred.
I know candy is bad for you, but jeez!!!!
It's simple...the retailers know people are going to have virtually no money come December..especially if the economy keeps going the way it is going. They are trying to make up for it by getting people to buy stuff early. (And if that doesn't happen, we are in for a whole mound of Chapter 11 bankruptcies after the holiday season)
@snoop-blog: Snoop, did you go to the link, it's hysterical (when you try to forget the fact that people really believe the crap).
@snoop-blog: You may want to try the new comments again. Other gawker sites have reported:
Some news: later today, a few tweaks will go into effect: comments will be displayed in chronological order and replies will be collapsed, but remain in chronological order.
I was making a sarcastic point that the way snoop was doing it everyone could see his replies (the way it should be). I think another nice new feature would be to use white text over a white background. This way you cant read any of the posts until you highlight them and the ones you don't want to read you don't highlight.
You have to work VERY hard to find the word 'Christmas' in a Lowes.
It's all 'Holiday' stuff. I keep asking people - WHAT HOLIDAY IS IT??? Like the trees and the Santa and the like - WHAT OTHER HOLIDAY uses those images??
And they just look at me like I'm nuts. :(
I keep asking people - WHAT HOLIDAY IS IT???
That is priceless. I gotta start doing that!!!
@snoop-blog: I believe you mean festiVUS.
Sorry, I take my symbolic, materialistic holidays seriously. Isn't the reason for the season presents?
@geeniusatwrok: Uh, isn't basically everything holiday oriented made in China nowadays? You could be crafty and make your own, but I lack those skillz. I'll just wait until the day after Christmas to buy stuff for next year.
@Optimistic Prime:
Yeah, and the grills are at "Low Prices". The grills are next to the Christmas Creep stuff so we can take out our fustrations and light the whole thing on fire. Talk about chestnuts roasting on a open fire! And just think, the church groupies can use the same grills to get rid of the Halloween stuff- something for everyone!

I think this is part of the reason we are seeing the decorations so early. It does seem like it starts earlier every year, but I know that at least Target use to put out Christmas decorations closer to Halloween as the Halloween merchandise sold out.
I always start my Christmas shopping early. We don't put anything on credit, so our Christmas is always paid in full and we don't have any Christmas bills afterwards.
I love Christmas and I try not to let the early decorations bother me.
Your right and it won't be long before you see Christmas trees displayed on the 4th of July. My suggestion, file a formal complaint with the manager of the store and with the corporate office. Send them a message that Christmas is a holiday, and not just a season to make money.
@mbz32190: their was in article in the Wall street journal that quoted store reps as saying exactly that - trying to get people to buy early and maybe buy more through extending the season.
I was hoping I wouldn't see this day coming. Alas, retailers will stoop to almost anything these days to maximize their cash flow. Used to be they'd only advertise stuff for one major holiday at a time.
Somewhat related: earlier this summer, I noticed up here in Toronto how large grocery/drug/department store chains were prominently displaying bags and boxes of 'fun-sized' chocolate bars, the packs normally reserved for halloween, as back-to-school snacks (at 'kid height', no less)... like it ought to be a daily thing that kids have candy stuffed in their lunch boxes. Pretty sick, given the obesity epidemic going on.
I took a pic on my camera of a low table with a poster of a smiling tot advertising 'the art of snacking' and a Crayola tie-in, if anyone's interested. I was thinking of submitting it.
@HyMinded:
Kind of like how some people leave their christmas lights out in their yard all year round? ;)
At the Menards I work at in Princeton, Indiana.
We have had all of our Christmas stuff up since September 5th. We were ordered by G.O (Aka General Office, since we are Privatley owned by the Menards family we don't have a "Corporate Office" to start Putting out our stuff on Sept 1st. with all of it and displays having to be put out by the 14th of this month or we have to pay Fines to G.o

Good grief, sigh
