Guitar Center Adds $100 Premium To iPods
Update: Guitar Center has fixed the pricing error and offered refunds.
Quick, get out your throw-away cash and head to Guitar Center! Their website sells the iPod Classic and both sizes of the iPod Touch for $100 more than what you'll find pretty much everywhere else. (We guess there's extra rock-n-roll in them.) You know what makes us crazy? We bet people still buy them.
If you're one of those people, at least you have an out if you bought it in the last 30 days. Right on the page where you can add the iPod to your cart, they say that "with our 30/30 Guarantee on most products, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!" We confirmed with a very nice CSR on the phone that the guarantee applies to iPods, so good luck with that. Maybe you can spend that recaptured $100 on some Monster Cables.
(Thanks to Scott!)
This is a test using rich text formatting and html links. It's the generic "company" ad that should appear on all posts with the Company category if they don't have an ad attached to a specific company.

The reason Guitar Center sells iPods is they sell equipment that will directly interface with an iPod. For example:
Numark iDJ2 Mobile DJ Workstation
[www.guitarcenter.com]
And how about this?
Alesis iMultiMix 9R Rackmount Mixer
[www.guitarcenter.com]
I've seen a keyboard/synth at one of their stores with an iPod dock, but that may have been an add-on or even non-iPod specific... I wasn't paying attention to that detail too much. Can't find that on their website right now either.
Anyway, point is, they sell iPods because they sell equipment with authorized iPod docks.
And ftr I am in no way shape nor form an Apple fan-girl.
- T, doesn't even own an iPod.
@Geekybiker: They've obviously realized that since they were selling then at a $100 discount in the past they now have to sell them for $100 more to make up for the difference in profit.
No sense selling them cheaply, it's not their main line, and they stock them for CONVENIENCE of their customers. They don't much care if you buy one or not.
In fact, I almost think they'd rather not deal with them but stock them because the occasional person comes in and says "I want to be a DJ -- hook me up with everything I need" and so they have a few in stock.
ipods are stocked for the reason that someone wants to dj their friends birthday party and can buy mixers that integrate with ipods. the mixers are not really meant for professionals, but they sell. they also sell macbooks with professional recording software which, surprise! integrate with ipods. I got sucked in to the link about the Black Friday OP and what the guy said about their online support and phone support is absolutely correct, a bunch of 18-30yr old musicians working to get a discount on gear. GC and MF are sister companies, the stock ticker is for Guitar Center. Go to the wikipedia article for GC and you will see all the companies they own. You will also see that GC is now owned by an investment company known as Bain Capital and has gone private.

Wow, you are a true corporate shill, yeah its really (un)convenient to type into your search bar a few words to save $79. Consumers need to be educated, especially on the internet to save money, and that's one of the main reasons this site exists, why are you trying to downplay that. Power to the consumer, son.
Well of COURSE they're more expensive now, it's not their mega super orange tag once a year birthday blowout event. Fortunately, that will be starting later today, to be replaced by the Once-In-A-Lifetime blockbuster savings super sale in about a week. Were the ipods a normal price it would be much more difficult to make them OVER 100 DOLLARS OFF.
@TeraGram:
I know, I was just joking. There are a lot of interfaces that would be ideal with a Macbook, like Traktor Scratch for example.

Well, the reason the prices are $100 higher is because they are still listing the Gen. 1 iPod touches and the newly discontinued Classic.
