"ESET NOD32 Antivirus Home Edition v3 for $14.99 (Best antivirus around, won't slow down your computer)"

Paid endorsement?

@agnamus: I was sort of wondering that myself..

But then I decided it was simply personal commentary! A number of my friends use that program and have had great success with it and they never hesitate to carry on about it.

I'm happy with Avast, personally.

Not bad pricing on the lenovo, unfortunately they are not taking new orders on their mini-notebooks (S-series) right now :-(

I still signed up for an e-mail to alert me when they're back in stock, maybe they'll honor the price or make it better.

14.99 is a great deal on NOD32, normally 59.99, I paid 29.99 6 months ago and it was the best $30 Ive ever spend on antivirus, small footprint and does everything in the background

user-pic

I've always heard great things about NOD32, but what always stopped me was that I thought it was a subscription-based service. So you pay $14.99 up front but then have to buy a 1- or 2-year subscription as well. However, I'm not so sure that this is the case. Can anyone confirm? I'm happy using AVG Free, but as long as there's no paid subscription, NOD32 is tempting...

The 14.99 will get you the first year subscription, after that you have to renew, looks like $28 for one year and $50 for two years, Im telling you, Im a cheap-ass techie, so most of the software on my computer is free, NOD32 is one of the few pieces of software I gladly pay for.

@agnamus: Personal opinion, thanks for playing.

The AE deal appears to be dead (old)

Way too late on the American Eagle code, it expired on Aug. 26th :(

user-pic

@aceball: Thanks for the info...from one cheap-ass techie to another.

Anyone have a personal opinion or well-paid endorsement for the fastest 64 bit os AV? I want a small footprint vs pretty shiny things.

The Consumerist should have a "Send $100 to pay down your CC/Student loan/mortgage friday" Deal!

user-pic

Wow, that code makes the Lenovo laptops cost about what they actually should cost normally! Amazing!

user-pic

@dianabanana: I used it this morning and it worked fine :)

maybe they knew that my IP address belonged to a former employee and let it pass.

user-pic

All the Lenovo computers come with M$ Windows and they don't appear to offer any method for ordering a computer without paying the Microsoft Tax. No Deal!

user-pic

@Ben Popken: Just making sure consumerist hasn't sold out.

ESET is TERRIBLE. It USED to be good, but went to the trash fairly quick after Leo Laporte made them popular. I was infected by a virus that completely trashed my machine for a day or so and ESET, McAfee, and Symantec couldn't fix it. (Eset let it in, none of the others could properly clean it either.) Thank God though, because Kaspersky cleaned it in one swoop.

I refuse to use anything else these days. Just MHO though.

Not sure if you normally list Walgreen's coupons but they're running $10 off a $40+ purchase for today and tomorrow. [www.walgreens.com]

Is it ethical to use that Lenovo discount code if you're not an IBM shareholder?

I ordered one of those MP3 players. For $20 it seemed like it would make a nice Christmas present for somebody.
