Verizon Settles Early Termination Fee Lawsuit For $21 Million
Verizon has agreed to pay $21 million in a California class action lawsuit brought over early termination fees. The plaintiffs alleged that the fees violated California state laws. Next case: Sprint, which Californians are suing for the same reason.

It really doesn't matter who prevails in the court case. Lawyers are the only winners.

Will this mean that I can get out of my contract and go get an iPhone with out signing over my left nut?
Figures this comes up when my contract expires in a month anyway.
By the way, anyone have any tips on haggling with the cell phone salesmen? Verizon and AT&T charge the same amount of money for the plans I want, so I want to see if I can get one of them to drop it.

Now how can I get out of my clearwire contract? So far that's the hardest one I've seen to leave behind, even if you move to an area where they don't or won't provide service.
