I went to Starbucks this morning and when the handed me the receipt they said if I brought it back after 2pm, I'd get a free iced coffee.
In other news, their stock as of 9:31 Central Time is down over 3% from yesterday's close.
I'm no economist (the only thing me and John McCain have in common), but perhaps giving away free stuff has the potential to hurt profits?
@Walrii: It should. Sometimes when money is tight, I visit a few coupon print-out sites online for grocery items (they usually only cover brand-name products) and have never had a problem redeeming them at any store.
@boss_lady: True, but Starbucks doesn't really do the same kind of online coupons and they have been screwed by these things in the past. The last one was their fault, but I'm guessing these won't make the cut.
At my local Starbucks in Paramus, I was told that they needed the actually laminated card (even though the coupon does not state that no photocopies are accepted). She was nice enough to give me a free drink though and even asked me what size I wanted! I wasn't greedy and asked for the tall as the coupon stated.
Starbucks doesn't do online coupons. I guarantee you that. Every time they end up on the internet, the free-loaders go crazy and print out 100 of the things and hand them to their friends and family. So, while they may be taking them now, you will more than likely see a sign up at the counter in the next week or so saying, "Sorry...no."
Of course, I could be wrong in this case as getting you into the stores is the whole point of coupons...one free 12oz drink isn't enough for most people...we'll see.
I just got the Starbucks coupon to work on my first try. One of the girls in our office and I went to the Starbucks on Penn Ave and 20th in DC. They just took the pieces of paper (B&W) and asked what we wanted and the size. We too weren't greedy and stayed with the talls. They didn't hesitate at all. Enjoy.
The coupon did not work at a store in Burlington,MA and they are usually pretty friendly at that store. Looks like the way to go might be using the coupon in hopes that the baristas feel sorry for you, tell you it isn't valid, and take it anyways. Probably works better if you're not getting ONLY a "free" drink.
@dianabanana: That's nothing, I was ready to hit six Dunkin Donuts on free coffee day. Then my bladder thought better of it.

looks like the starbucks coupon is meant to be given to you by a clerk. There is even a place for them to write in why they gave it.
