It's really not a good week for Delta: when a flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta prepared for landing early this morning, the crew discovered the body of a 61-year-old woman locked in a bathroom. Cause of death is still being determined. [SFGate] (Thanks to Gino and Lee!)

Sounds like someone's jealous of Countrywide!

I wonder if it's part of the flight attendants' procedures for preparation before landing to check the lavatories to make sure no one is in there.

Shock at being charged 50 bucks for that second bag, I'd guess.

@DrGirlfriend: It is. I incorrectly wrote that they discovered the body after landing, when in fact they discovered it as they were making preparations to land. I've updated the post--thanks.

She thought she could save on a "blue-hair" dye job and drowned on the decent!

Between this and the disabled passenger they refused to help, the price increase for checked bags should provide them with the funds to settle these upcoming lawsuits...

Wow, my wonderings actually served a purpose! ;)

So...does she count as the first or second bag?

We love to die, and it shows?

Someone once told me that it is rare to be declared dead on a plane. Rather, you are declared after you leave, as the plane has to be held if you die on it by the FAA/NTSB, but not if you die off of it. Anyone know?

Flight attendants who did not realize the passenger had expired continued to demand she crawl down the steps of the plane.

They probably didn't hold her connecting flight, either.

If you start a flight as a passenger and end it as luggage, do you have to pay the luggage fee?

Never trust airline peanuts!

Hey, making sure senior citizens don't die in the bathroom is not my job.

I'm dreading the absorption of Northwest...
