    “You have died of dysentery.”

    …nuts.

If you look at the rebate on the HP site, it states the rebate is not valid if the printer is purchased at OD, OM, or BB.

@boss_lady: am i the only one that thinks $2 for a g-string isn’t really much of a bargain?!?

  7. Norcross says:

@apotheosis: HAHAHAHA! I forgot that game even existed. Awesome middle school memories on the Macintosh Performa.

  8. homerjay says:

WTF? Why are all these g-strings for girls???

  9. @mac-phisto: Am I the only one that thinks $2,600 for a computer isn’t really much of a bargain?

  10. Scuba Steve says:

@The Count of Monte Fisto: Well, that all depends.. were you planning on paying $3000?

I plan on buying a PC desktop for $1850.. If I can find it cheaper, I will consider it a bargain.

  11. Mr_D says:

@The Count of Monte Fisto: Depends on what you need it for, troll. Besides, that’s the SSD version. Try finding any laptop with an SSD for significantly less than that.

  12. Dobernala says:

@Mr_D: No need to get hysterical, mac fanboy.

  13. @Mr_D: Seriously, I’m a troll because I think it’s crazy to pay that much for a computer. I could buy four of the laptop I’m using now for that price.

  14. boss_lady says:

@mac-phisto: Why? Is it because there isn’t even twenty cents worth of fabric to them?

But it says many colors to choose from!

  15. highmodulus says:

Note that several retailers are selling off the discontinued XBOX 360 20 Gig model (replaced with a 60 gig-er which hopefully will be more reliable) at the same price. But they throw in gift certificates too. Target for one is doing this (but the sales tax savings from Amazon, and free shipping may offset that).

However, given the massive failure rates of the current model (speculated at over 33% at one point), waiting for the 60 gig version or getting an Elite may make more fiscal sense long term.

  16. Trai_Dep says:

@The Count of Monte Fisto: As a Yugo owner, I concur. Those people that spend more than $8,000 for a new car are FOOLS. My Yugo is exactly the same – nay BETTER – than those high-faluting cars that go over 60mph, handle turns and make driving a pleasure. FOOLS!

  17. mac-phisto says:

@The Count of Monte Fisto: i don’t think you’re crazy – besides, i happen to think SSD is more of a drawback than a feature. regardless, i could see myself paying that, but it would have to be a tablet (& you mac geeks can get one too – faster, more functional & cooler than the air…plus it’s cheaper.

  18. @homerjay: I agree. They could at least provide matching tops.

  19. “If you look at the rebate on the HP site, it states the rebate is not valid if the printer is purchased at OD, OM, or BB. “
@TheLemon: The rebate form I saw didn’t say Office Depot. It said :

All products, including eligible products referenced herein, purchased from Best Buy Inc., Best Buy, BestBuy.com, OfficeMax retail, OfficeMax.com are not eligible to receive mail-in rebates.

Something about G-strings from a place called “Wet Seal”…Nah. No thanks.

  21. Walrii says:

@Mr_D: Look at an Eee PC ([en.wikipedia.org]). Most use SSD and can be had for $300 dollars and up. Though, it may be a bit slower than the Mac :)

  22. Mr_D says:

@Walrii: The Eee, while nice, is not really a competitor to the MacBook Air. But, you’re right, it has an SSD and is cheaper than $2600.
I was just trying a) point out that the Air may not be for everyone, b) saying “Am I the only one that thinks $2,600 for a computer isn’t really much of a bargain?” followed by “I could buy four of the laptop I’m using now for that price.” is trollish, and c) point out that the bulk of the Air’s marginal cost is due to the SSD, and is not an “Apple tax”.

And, as usual, I just made things worse by feeding the troll, and I am continuing to make things worse by writing this.

For the record, though, I don’t have an Air. It doesn’t fit my needs.

  23. @Mr_D: Do you even know what “troll” means? Sorry if I’m not drinking the Jobs kool-aid, but that’s not what trolling is.
