The bigger news for consumers is that Northwest is joining the other airlines in charging a fee for first checked bag. They also added a charge for WorldPerks (frequent flyer) mile redemptions. A “free” ticket it going to cost $50 now.
Weirder: NWA sent an e-mail this morning to WorldPerks members asking us to sign the petition at [www.StopOilSpeculationNow.com] — except the e-mail uses an NWA.com tracking link to find out if anybody’s clicking. Smart move to send that the day after pissing off their regular customers, isn’t it?
I guess the Flintstones was actually a harbinger of things to come.
@Michael Bauser: Well I am not too surprised as I am sure this was an order coming from Delta to get into line with their policies. Also I saw delta was making it harder to redeem their points, so the $50 thing was probably another directive of delta. I am curious how bad NWA Frequent Flyers will be hosed when they combine with Deltas program.
