Starbucks' "food chief" has resigned and has not been replaced. RIP, breakfast sandwiches. Did anyone actually eat those? Guess not. [WSJ]

*gasp* What a shocker!

If I was really hungy sometimes I would eat one. Not worth the price. I hate when food tries to be fancy. Give me cheap food or fancy. Do try to do both.

user-pic

I do occasionally as they are by far the best breakfast sandwiches in the fast food market, with the exception of Panera.

user-pic

Do people still go to Starbucks? I grow my own beans. And I grow my own Juan Valdez to pick them.

user-pic

I was actually a huge fan of the breakfast sandwiches at Starbucks, and I hate their coffee.

user-pic

those breakfast sandwiches are good. My friends and I call them "Crack Sandwiches" because the cravings are strong.

user-pic

Actually, my wife who just quit there said the sandwiches were boosting their sales turning their non-profitable store profitable. Also, they took the sandwiches off the menu boards months ago, and people are continuing to ask for them. The general complaint was they (Starbucks staff) didn't want it to smell like a McDonalds. But then again, who's stock in tanking and who's doing well for themselves? Seems irresponsible for those that rely on their stock options to reach a decent wage.

I gotta say, they did not taste that bad. But I think they smelled awful! Starbucks should smell like coffee, or breakfast, but not like an airplane barf-bag.

Years ago when they first introduced food, it was really good. The salads were big, and had been put together locally (they were super fresh). Since then, the price has doubled and the portion sized has halved, plus it's all shipped in from across the country. The sandwiches are nothing but runny cheese that looks like something that's been hit on the street outside. If they go back to just coffee (and maybe the madelines, which are awesome) I'll be happy.

My last resort of food anyways.

Those breakfast sandwiches were awesome. They tasted like what I wish an Egg McMuffin tasted like. Sharp cheddar (not American) cheese, and an English muffin that was actually crispy on the outside -- a revolutionary concept that McDonalds abandoned when they started making Egg McMuffins in the freaking MICROWAVE. They were worth the wait and will be missed.

Love the sandwiches. Probably eat 'em 4 or 5 times a month. They were still at the local Bucks last week. Hopefully they still are for the time being. Good eats.

user-pic

:( I did. They were better than my other choices of Golden Arches or Creepy Crown Guy.

user-pic

The turkey bacon and spinach/feta breakfast sandwiches were excellent. I'll definitely miss...

user-pic

Love the sammiches! They're exactly what the breakfast sammich should be, and it's such a shame that the rest of the fast food industry doesn't serve anything like it. I really hope they don't go away.

user-pic

I actually quite liked the sandwiches, especially the "healthy"' one with turkey bacon, cholesterol-free eggs, and reduced-fat cheddar. For a healthy sandwich it was quite goof.

user-pic

Hey consumerist, I can't read this without a subscription :-P

user-pic

A coffee house i supposed to smell like coffee, not breakfast.

user-pic

I remember driving from CA to IL and trying to find a Starbucks in Colorado that served the breakfast sandwiches. No one had them. That was a bad day.

user-pic

@phelander: LOL

I didn't even know Starbucks had breakfast sandwiches.

user-pic

I actually loved the turkey bacon ones... ya know, when I got up early enough to get breakfast and all. ;)

user-pic

@Elijah-M: No part of the McMuffin is made in the microwave. The problem is lazy workers set the toaster speed as high as possible so they don't have to wait, and the english muffins barely get warmed. Ask for the muffin well done and you'll get better results-well, except for the American cheese thing...

user-pic

I like the *$ breakfast sandwiches and the iced coffee is over 9000 times better than any other chain. I hope the sandwiches stay; I never smelled them in my local stores.

user-pic

I love people who are like "Starbucks? what's that?"

Give me an f-ing break. If you live in a suburb of Topeka, Kansas you still know what a SBux is, and you know there are always people there (granted, a few less since 4 Qs ago).

Likewise, I was rather fond of those crappy, overpriced breakfast sandwiches. Oh yeah, Sbux, hurt me some more. Charge me $6 for an iced vanilla latte, I love it.

user-pic

They're insanely profitable in the Northeast. So much so, I've heard rumors they may keep them on the menu here.

user-pic

I gotta add to the choir. Not a big Starbucks fan, but those breakfast sandwiches were surprisingly good, and healthier than the pastry options.

user-pic

Loved the sandwiches. In fact, I had one on Friday on my way to work. They're good and filling. I bought them somewhat regularly, especially since I go to SBUX every day to get coffee.

user-pic

The UK Starbucks had these amazing cheddar and marmite breakfast sandwiches. Damn they were good.

user-pic

A business partner told me they were really good but I rarely buy breakfast whether on a business trip or when at home.

user-pic

I loved those sandwiches. Mmmm, their avocado wrap one was so good. Much better choice than McD's on those mornings you need to pick up something for breakfast.

user-pic

I had their regular sandwiches; not bad, but a bit expensive.

user-pic

They're too spendy and not really that great for my money, at least the breakfast ones
