Comcast Crashed A Truck Into My House And I Don't Even Get Free Cable

18892 views

Reader Ryan sends us a gallery of photos depicting the aftermath of an unfortunate meeting between a moving Comcast van and his house.

Ryan says:

Apparently their trucks run on "high speed" only. And guess what? No free cable.

This is a test using rich text formatting and html links. It's the generic "company" ad that should appear on all posts with the Company category if they don't have an ad attached to a specific company.

haha - "this vehicle makes frequent stops"

user-pic

That'll buff right out.

user-pic

At least you can't complain that they knocked on the door and left immediately...

user-pic

Something about the "Call now to get COMCAST CABLE today!" on the side of a van crashed into a house makes me laugh.

user-pic

I didn't initally have Comcast going all the way to the worst company in america. Now I think they're in it to win it.

user-pic

@corkdork: Now there's an idea. Place a pit trap outside your house and arm it on the days that you have technicians scheduled. They try to drive on by and boom, stuck.

user-pic

HEADLINE: Comcast Van Throttled Down By House

user-pic

Someone hurry up and point out that it's not Comcast's fault because they didn't order the driver to smash into the house.

user-pic

Comcast's way of making sure you know they were there instead of parking accross the street at the local coffee shop before closing their ticket and saying there was no access?

user-pic

my best friend works for comcast. i am forwarding her this article right now

user-pic

Love the blacked-out license plate. Like we might tie the van to its owner or something.

user-pic

Gimme a break! This is clearly the OP's fault. ;-)

user-pic

"Comcastrophe"

HAHAHA, that should be the new tag for ANYTHING Comcast related

user-pic

This is so obviously the OP's fault. After all, he decided to live in a house that might get in the way of an errant Comcast truck!

user-pic

Interesting that in this era of Web 2.0 - you are no longer limited to telling your friends and neighbors....

Sometimes, getting things off your chest and telling the world can actually make you feel better

user-pic

@weakdome: more like "this vehicle makes frequent crashes"

user-pic

This is obviously the OP's fault. After all, he decided to live in a house that might get in the way of an errant Comcast truck!

user-pic

Can we get some more details? Was the driver drunk? Asleep? 16 and texting? What was the aftermath?

user-pic

Stupid story unrelated to Consumerist topics. Who knows why the driver left the road. Maybe mechanical problem, maybe swerving to miss a child running after a ball... Pointless story in this context.

user-pic

Is there damage to the house? I can't tell.

user-pic

Comcast is probably gonna sue for the time they were "in the house"

user-pic

At least they hit a house instead of a child this time.

user-pic

They were in such a rush to fix his internet.... right there is dedication to serve the customer....

user-pic

@IfThenElvis:

Thats what I was thinking. Take the van away and no one could tell the house had been smashed into.

What city is this? Beirut?

user-pic

I got rear-ended by a Comcast van about 2 years ago. The guy was reading his map at the time. I'm wondering if this guy was just doing exactly what his GPS was telling him to do. "It said turn right, so I turned right. It didn't tell me to stop."

user-pic

BRINGING CABLE INTO YOUR HOME AS FAST AS POSSIBLE

user-pic

Hey, how about a post mocking the ineptitudenessery of Gawker IT?

How about it? We'll mock Comcast/WalMart ineptness, yet IT can't get the sole money-making function of the entire family of sites, the comments, to work consistently.

user-pic

This is so full of win I don't even know where to start.

user-pic

But most importantly, did this happen between the 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. window that they gave you?

user-pic

I blame the OP. Clearly he did not offer the Comcast guy a glass of water or a tip, otherwise this wouldn't have happened.

Or something.

user-pic

What's with the K-9 unit? Were they checking for drugs in the van?

user-pic

How is this comcasts fault?
It's not like they embedded a microchip into his head giving it commands...

Hm...that gives me an idea....

user-pic

@EvilConservative: Oh, right. If you can't blame the OP, just say the story shouldn't have been posted in the first place. I mean, certainly wouldn't want anything funny or amusing to be posted that's only sort of related.

user-pic

I love that the sticker on the back of the van says "this vehicle makes frequent stops" hehh

user-pic

Wear a neck brace and your attorney at your side...and make that same demand to Comcast.

user-pic

@ptkdude: I'm wondering if this guy was just doing exactly what his GPS was telling him to do. "It said turn right, so I turned right.

The machine knows where it's going. THE MACHINE KNOWS!!!

user-pic

@Manator Will Show You the Promised Land!: "How is this comcasts fault?"

It's more a question of whether it is Comcast's fault. They hired a driver who may or may not be negligent and reckless. The driver was most likely an employee of Comcast and operating the van within the capacity of his/her job. That would place liability for damages on the employer, though the driver could be personally liable as well.

user-pic

Wow that's COMCASTIC!

In other news please stop telling the editors what shoudl and should be posted on the site.

user-pic

@jonny6pak: My sarcasm is not very good...

This is why I fail at these posts, lol.

user-pic

So I'm guessing the drivers are as good as the customer service people?

user-pic

Does he live in the garbage can? Thats the only thing knocked over.

user-pic

@EvilConservative:

Thank you EvilConservative for pointing out the most important issues.

But the Comcast haters of the world will never let the facts get in the way of a good Comcastic bashing.

user-pic

Geez, people...You complain when Comcast doesn't show up, then you complain when they do!

/humor

user-pic

This is simply the 'professional' method of pulling cable through stucco/adobe walls - it's the fastest way.

Don't try this yourself, you'll take down the whole block. Only professional idiots should try to drive through walls.

user-pic

@EvilConservative: If it's pointless, why comment? Move along.

Have a Nice Day!

user-pic

New driver, got confused about having to get there in the specified window.
