I had a procedure done on my back for a herniated disk and had to lie on my back except for a few minutes a day for a week. Surprisingly, once I was not in a large amount of pain (without painkillers - I was prescribed percocet but found I out was allergic and had to go without because I clearly couldn't go get a new script) - it was torture, and there is no amount of money that would talk me into doing it again for a week let alone 90 days.
If you calculate it out you only get 7.87 an hour GROSS! (Not sure maybe this is tax free)
90 days X 24 hours = 2160 hours
17,000/2160=$7.87
Not to mention you will spend the next 30 days+ rehabilitating yourself
from muscle loss.
Seems to me they should make it a joint study with an intelligence agency. They could offer a lot more money and the intelligence agency would be able to see how effective it is as a means of torture, since I'm pretty sure after a week or two it would be.

I would SO do that NASA thing if I could pass the Air Force medical examination standards, which I seriously doubt.
