BitTorrent tracking site The Pirate Bay was raided by Swedish Police, and now the site claims they found evidence that the chief of police who called the raid was in the employ of Warner Brothers. [The Pirate Bay]

"It has come to our attention that Warner Bros has employed the police officer in charge of the whole investigation about The Pirate Bay. This is of course probably something highly illegal and at the least a very big scandal."

I love irony!

Jim Keyser has updated his status:

Jim Keyser is probably fired :(

He _is_ employed by Warned Brothers. He wasn't back then.

Not that there couldn't have been a conflict of interest anyway...

Now that Demonoid is back, who really cares about TPB? Way too many viruses and fake files on there. Too bad it wasn't the RIAA behind this evil deed instead of Warner Bros. Though I guess one self important organization which is out of touch with the times is the same as any other.

@Ex_EA_Slave: Thanks for the heads up! I didn't know they were back...

@Ex_EA_Slave: The people who don't have invites to Demonoid care, that's who. ::coughs loudly::

The Pirate Bay is now offering a blog-hosting service. ~141 people have signed up since yesterday.

The guy works for the plaintiff and he's the head of the investigation...why stop there? Just buy the judiciary system to ensure the outcome is in your favor.

Lets ignore the fact that they were illegal helping to distribute someone elses Intellectual Property.

There is nothing wrong with copying music.

/that is all

@Steve Trachsel, Ace: Your guilty until proven innocent trial by public opinion attitude is despicable. The trial is to determine IF TPB has done anything illegal, according to Swedish law.

user-pic

@Steve Trachsel, Ace:

A bittorrent tracker is not illegal. They expressly do not filter content in order to shield themselves from things such as this. If they were *filtering* the content and *allowed* pirated material, they would be in violation of the law - however, they merely accept user submissions.

The Pirate Bay operates fully in accordance with Swedish law. *YOU* might not like it, but that doesn't make it illegal. TPB has been raided several times, and the courts have sided with them in each and every case.

This story is inaccurate.

The policeman IS NOW in the employ of Warner Brothers, but WAS NOT at the time of the raid.

Quote from: [torrentfreak.com]

"Kopit.se found out yesterday -through the police officer's facebook profile- that Keyzer was recently employed by Warner Bros, one of the plaintiffs in the prosecution against The Pirate Bay. Keyzer has deleted his facebook profile, but confirmed that he indeed works for the company now.

Pirate Bay's Peter Sunde (brokep) stated: "He [Keyzer] confirmed that he is an employee there and we can't see it in any other way than this being the reward for a work well done from the new employer of the police, the entertainment industry""

Almost everywhere has it worded to look like he was employed by them at the time of the raid because god knows that would be more scandalous.

user-pic

@Anjow: Since TPB is still up and running, that kind of defeats their claims of it being a "reward for work well done".

While I'm not against bittorrent, I would like to TPB pimp slapped by reality a couple times. :)

user-pic

@Darkwish: Damn, thought I fixed the typo. Supposed to say "would like to see TPB pimp slapped".

user-pic

@Anjow: Still causes a massive interest conflict, nay?
