Anyone know a site that tracks all the interest rates of these online savings? Emmigrant's rate's have slipped and I'm considering moving but its hard to compare the rates on each of these sites.

None of them are really "high-yield" anymore; they're all hovering at around 3%.

@howie_in_az: "High" is relative. My B&M banking service provides a 0.6% APY on Savings Accounts. Yeah.

user-pic

@howie_in_az: Seriously. I'm getting 3% in my money market, but it isn't worth the effort to move it for 1%.

user-pic

@howie_in_az: considering the average b&m savings rate is around 0.3% these days, i would certainly consider 3% high-yield.

everything's relative.

I'm getting 4% in a CD at CountryWide.

Where the hell is Schwab? Oh, that's right, it can't be on the list because it's a CHECKING account. Why would you go with any of these savings accounts if you can get a checking account with the same interest rate?

@tange1: [www.bankrate.com]
is a site that tracks "WHAT PASSES FOR HIGH YIELD THESE DAYS".
It list the min. amount to open an account & other criteria.

Did anyone else watch the slide show for ING?

They apparently take your online security VERY SERIOUSLY!!!

user-pic

btw, just checked schwab and they lowered again to 2.25%. so now it's slightly less competitive... but still it's a checking account!

@redhelix: My B&M give me 0.1% for my Savings Account! Ohh, snap! I win! ...oh, wait.

@iamlost26: If my single criterion for choosing a savings account is that it not be a savings account, then you might be onto something.

@taka2k7: Not really "nuff said," no.

From the usaa.com site:

Who is Eligible?

Children of USAA members.
Active-duty officers and enlisted personnel.
Guard and Selected Reserve officers and enlisted personnel.
Recently retired or separated military personnel.

If none of those situations apply, you're SOL.
