Great Moments In Commercial History: Fred And Sharon's Movies

4968 views
Meet Fred and Sharon. They make movies. Video Movies. They could improve your life.

Here's a commercial that demonstrates that even local public access TV has standards that must be met. Fortunately for us, when public access says no, YouTube says "yes."

If you'd like to nominate a commercial for our weekly series "Great Moments In Commercial History" send us an email at tips [at] consumerist [dot] com. Be sure to put "Great Moments In Commercial History" in the subject. To see other commercials that have been featured in the series, click here.

(Thanks, binaryslider!)

That was sad...

user-pic

My god, somebody shoot me, because I can't stop laughing and crying hysterically same time.

user-pic

OH DEAR GOD. Where do I keep the eye bleach.

user-pic

It's so poorly done. They lack emotion. And the animation? Good lord......

user-pic

I can't believe I saw something that made me appreciate working over reading Consumerist! I have been shocked back into reality!

user-pic

Certainly is good advertising for their work, eh?

user-pic

I'm going to have them jazz up my website with some animation.

user-pic

Oh, come on. That can NOT be real. When you go to www.fredandsharonsmovies.com it tells you to go to youtube.

It's still funny tho.

user-pic

That was too funny. Just think, this could be the next trend in advertising. I can't wait to see more.

user-pic

Two words.............MORE ENERGY!.........and MORE COWBELL!

user-pic

I feel my life was improved by the enjoyment I received watching the toy Loch Ness monster superimposed menacingly in the lake. Truth in advertising....

user-pic

This was on Dlisted a couple of days ago.

I love her dress.

user-pic

@Ciao_Bambina: It's possible their $5/month hosting plan just nuked from all the traffic. I think this has been going 'round the Intarnets as of late.

user-pic

Now, that's the kind of couple that should be in a creative enterprise! I wonder if they swing too

user-pic

Oh, dear lord, I found the Motherload: [youtube.com]

My abject apologies for doubting the veracity of a Consumerist posting.

user-pic

Totally reminds me of Tim and Eric's Awesome Show: Great Job!

user-pic

"Fred ... our anniversary is coming up ... let's make a movie so you can send it to your mother and fam'ly ..." *PLOP* (dies of boredom)

Definitely the highlight of my day, right there.

user-pic

That Sharon's quite a looker when she dolls herself all up like that. I'll bet Fred nailed her good right there in their studio.

Who am I kidding... there's no studio. Its just their spare room...

user-pic

This is actually more post modern than is acceptable. I have seen the future...and it is Fred and Sharon.

By the way, if you're interested, a quick Google confirms that the (250) area code belongs to none other than...Vancouver, B.C.

Yes, folks. Fred and Sharon are smoking that potent Vancouver pot.

user-pic

This is the funniest ad yet, better than Norton Furniture or Mo' Money Taxes! This honestly looks like an SNL skit, or with those Canadian accents, a Kids in the Hall skit.

user-pic

I want a video by THOSE guys, you see the greenscreen effects?

user-pic

This can't be real, there's no way. Can it?

user-pic

This will certainly go down in history....

user-pic

"I think it's viral."

I wondered about that myself. But I used to watch some really awful local commercials in the early 60's. As now car dealers and furniture stores using themselves as icons for their commercials. Theres a car dealer in Richmond, VA. known as $300 down man and his pitbull Mack Mack. You know a "buy here - pay here car lot. He wears a yellow rubber super hero outfit. It looks put together with a low end video camera and editing program. Not near as bad but really awful for sure.

user-pic

A co-worker and I watched this, and almost died laughing over Sharon's near-monotone delivery. "Let's make a video for your mom and family..." Please, Sharon - don't sound so excited, there.

user-pic

She is DEPRESSED, dang.

user-pic

There's two minutes of my life I'll never get back ...

user-pic

They should team up with Montgomery Flea Market. It would create an unstoppable force.

"That's...right...Fred...it...IS...just...like...a...mini...mall."

user-pic

Sweet merciful crap that was awesome.

"Sharon! Put down the gun Sharon... we'll order some video movies Sharon I swear, just put down the gun."

user-pic

somebody need to kick the sh#t out of the dude from Best Buy that sold Fred the video camera. This is what happens when you try to make a movie with windowz movie maker......

user-pic

I can't stop laughing, somebody help!

user-pic

Are these real? They seem like a viral thing.

Either way, they are certainly hilarious.

user-pic

All I keep thinking of is Mr. and Mrs. Larry "Bud" Melman.
