Target Delivers Dresses With Correct Amount Of Packaging

I've seen a lot of poor shipping posts in the past few weeks, and thought I would share a positive shipping story! I recently ordered 12 bridesmaid dresses from Target.com (2 sizes for each girl, just in case, plus two for myself). I expected a barrage of boxes at my door, but was pleasantly surprised to find 10 dresses neatly packed into one Amazon box, and two more dresses in a smaller Amazon box. I guess some companies CAN ship competently!The right size box for the amount of material inside...AMAZING! What will they invent next? Maybe Target can share this secret with their retail brethren.

I thought about taking pictures when I received a delivery yesterday from B&H Photo, packaged even better than this. It was two boxes (manufacturer-packaged) inside a larger box, with minimal air-pack and bubble wrap. They used the perfect-size shipping box (and only one box), with the perfect amount of shipping material, just enough to protect the contents from shifting.
Much better than a recent shipment from another company, which used a box twice the size of its contents, and no shipping material. It's a miracle the contents weren't damaged in shipping.
@misteral: I was going to say that. Amazon is warehouse fulfillment for Target, so the article should be a kudos to them.
P.S. To the OP, dang smart of you to get your dresses through Target. Wish I thought of that.
No offense to the originator of the story but this reminds me of a hilarious show on CMT called "My big redneck wedding" (or words to that effect). Last week included all the wedding party in hunting camoflage, a pink rifle as the grooms gift to his bride and pretty much everything bought at Wal-Mart.
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but if you check your Amazon receipts in the box, on the lower left corner, there is a code which tells the packers what box to use (Z1,Z2,C1, etc...). I'm guessing a computer assigns these codes, and the packers just box it like the computer says. I did get a Z2 order in a C2 box, and I'm guessing that maybe the warehouse ran out of Z2's, and subbed a C2, b/c it's the first time it happened to me.
@rustyni: They're just identical dresses. Probably short which probably wouldn't have worked for my wedding, but I'm impressed by the thriftiness of it. I'd like to see a link to the actual dress. :)
@rustyni: Ah ha! I THINK it might be one of these two.
Quite nice, actually.
There's also formal dresses but none in that color. There's a couple in there that I bet could double for wedding dresses in a more casual wedding.
@Bladefist: I'm still impressed. The two I found on there were $120 for my sister on an fugly dress I'll never wear again. Order a size or two larger than the girls' actual size and they can be tailored so they will definitely fit.
@chrisfromnl: Amazon tried twice to send me a Game Boy Advance game in a DVD mailer. I thought it strange that a GBA box (about an inch in thickness) was shipped in a box made for half its size. Well, they *made* it fit.
@chiieddy: $120? dang. my wifes dress will be 120 lol... ya sure i aclled them cheap, but it takes one to know one :)
For anyone interested, here is the actual dress I bought (yes, I paid for them too!) for my bridesmaids:
@Bladefist: Hey, same here...bridesmaid's gown, in ivory, for a wedding gown: $120. Even better, I washed it on the delicate cycle in the machine at home, hung it to dry, and saved the massive dry cleaning fee.
@morganlh85: Those are awesome. Nice little cocktail dresses. Did you order them larger than your bridesmaids said so they can easily have them taken in if necessary or if the fits weren't perfect? (i.e. easier to remove fabric than add)
@chiieddy:
@SpenceMan01:
Yep, I ordered one their size and one size larger and we'll see which ones fit best. I'll return whichever ones don't fit.
@morganlh85: $20 each! that's phenomenal. I wish I was in your wedding. Though I'd want a wrap to hide the 'chicken cutlets' you get near your armpits in a strapless.
@chiieddy: Wow they're actually not bad looking!!! I'm rather impressed!!
For $150.00 I got to wear a custom home-made potato sack in my friend's wedding as a bridesmaid. No joke. Looked like the dress fell right out of "Amish Weekly".
I think that was a great idea, a bridesmaid dress someone might actually be able to wear more than once@chiieddy:
@morganlh85: the bridesmaids will love you picking a pretty dress they can use again, for such a low price...you should have planned my daughters wedding

I'm waiting for the post where we see the large item shipped in a ridiculously small box.
