On Monday, NPR interviewed Bob Sullivan, author of "Gotcha Capitalism - How Hidden Fees Rip You Off Every Day -- And What You Can Do About It." (Bob also writes the fine Red Tape Chronicles blog, which we've linked to several times). [NPR]

Meh. I have "podcasts" that have no transcript. Sometimes you want to read a story, not listen to it.

I don't think NPR transcribes much. I'd dig a transcript though. Too cheap to buy a membership to the gym where I can listen to my backlog of "podcasts".

Bob was interviewed on a local radio station here yesterday as well and is a good interview subject. I just listened to the NPR interview as well. Definitely worth the listen.

I picked this book up, after reading this entry and looking into it -- it sounded like an intriguing premise. If you're a regular Consumerist reader, none of the individual stories in there will shock you, but, man, it's a different feeling when you see the fee structures laid out as a system. I already had in mind halfway through the book the first friend I want to loan this book to.

Now, I'm off to drink a pot of coffee and call some credit card banks and demand lower APRs, fully armed with consumerist righteousness. :-)
