fuck 1800 flowers. horrible customer service.

And horrible flowers. I sent my (now ex) wife a bouquet for valentine's day of pink roses and carnations, she received an embarrassing plastic bowl filled with dandelions and awful purple things. It was something you'd get a secretary that you didn't care for that much.

I've used ProFlowers a few times, with those discount codes from radio shows, and they're usually really good.

This Valentines Day though I'm going to continue a trend of getting my girlfriend something related to Kingdom Hearts, since its her favorite game ever.

@youbastid: Agreed. Dead flowers that are different from what you ordered, in a different vase than you ordered. 1800 flowers can fall in a sinkhole for all I care. In order to get a refund for dead flowers, they actually have to come & pick them back up to 'prove' they're dead! No shame.

$800 might sound like a good idea for a 50" rear projection DLP TV, but... how much does the lamp cost per hour? Don't replacement lamps usually cost hundreds of dollars and last mere hundreds of hours?

    user-pic

@proginoskes: Where do you see that it's rear-projection? Looks like a regular flat panel DLP to me.

hell i thought the consumerist was telling us to never use 1-800-flowers like just 2-3 months ago?

    user-pic

    nevermind.....that was ftd. sorry.

    user-pic

What's with the Consumerist/1-800-Flowers conflict of interest there?

    user-pic

@proginoskes: replacement lamps cost 100-200, sometimes more if you buy the wrong brand. they last several thousand (2, 3, maybe 4?) until you get to the lamp cycling phenomenon.

    user-pic

ah. i neglected to read the 'projection' portion of the description. twice. it's still only 15 inches deep! ok enough.

    user-pic

@arch05: even if he didn't write projection, DLP is always projection. in fact, it's considered redundant to have both "words" in the same sentence.

@snoop-blog: ftd sucks too? who the hell is good to order from then if you can't just call the local florist? i need to see a picture of the flowers i'm ordering, i can't just describe them over the phone.

    user-pic

@arch05: I think 1800Flowers just calls up a local florist anyway. It's also possible that FTD does the same thing, too. So, it's possible you could just look up the arrangement you want and then describe it to the clerk. If all else fails, you may *eeek!* actually have to go to a B&M store to get your flowers.
