I liked the Kiplinger’s article, but I think their answer that a “Roth IRA is better than a Traditional IRA” is questionable. That’s true for a lot of people, but the answer is truthfully that it depends on your situation. The Roth does some great advantages like the ability to withdraw contributions at any time and the fact that it has no required minimum distributions. But beyond that it depends on your current and future tax rates. That being said, the same amount of money in a Roth is obviously much more valuable than the same amount in a Traditional IRA.
