UPDATE: Those lovable folks at the Wall Street Journal Health Blog called Listerine for official comment on our "24 Hour Protection" post, confirming that the "24 Hour Protection" sticker is there simply to remind you to use mouthwash twice as often as you're accustomed. Hilarious and awesome. [WSJ Health Blog]

@domestic_goddess: Same here. I was also advised to use it just once a day, and even then to dilute it with a little bit of water.
Listerine 24 hour protection refers to the fact that it takes 12 hours for bacteria levels to return to normal after rinsing with Listerine, so if you rinse twice a day as instructed you get 24 hour protection. It's been so well researched and studied, there really aren't the side-effects that some people think there are. It can help keep you away from costly surgeries later in life. Use it or don't use it, but I'd rather spend a little money now on Listerine than $8000 on an implant later on.
Shertzerj and i will be healthy anyway.

My dentist has told me on numerous occasions that you shouldn't use Listerine twice a day because there is so much alcohol in the mouthwash itself it hurts your gums if you use it that frequently.
