The free Microsoft Vista offer reported by Lifehacker yesterday is now off the table due to high demand. [Computerworld] (Thanks, Melinda!)

This is a test using rich text formatting and html links. It's the generic "company" ad that should appear on all posts with the Company category if they don't have an ad attached to a specific company.

I still can't believe that was in high demand when the major premise of the offer was big brother M$ watching over you for MONTHS... meanwhile I'm trying to get RID of my copy of Vista Premium. Anyone know if you can sell it if it's removed from the activated system? It's the OEM DVD. My guess is that M$ frowns very heavily on that, and will probably cause any subsequent attempt at activating to fail. Anyone know for sure?

I should specify... OEM meaning "bought from newegg" not "came with my computer"

Activation will fail, but they can call MS and get an activation code which will work. I've discovered this after formatting/restoring my comp with Vista on it a couple of times since I purchased.

I would've bet that they wouldn't be able to give Vista away.

Vista SP1 is due out son. Maybe it will start working better after that.

@UnStatusTheQuo: Some people don't have a lot of money to spend on things like software upgrades. It was a good deal, provided you didn't mind being tracked for a few months.
