Donna Tillman won a new Pontiac GTO coupe on The Price Is Right. The car she received was a different model that had, according to her mechanic, “major damage to its frame that had been repaired and concealed.” [Reuters]

So, the price was wrong after all! I knew it!

  2. homerjay says:

Well, it looks like Drew Carey’s reign of terror has begun.

  3. Yankees368 says:

Umm…this story took place in 2004. That was still very Bob Barker time.

  4. ravuya says:

That actually does sound like a new GTO to me.

  5. Crim Law Geek says:

    “The price is wrong, bitch!”

  6. wring says:

    oh please, get over it.

  7. did she win “A NEW CAR!!!” or “a Pontiac GTO!!”. Looks like a replay of the episode is in order – followed by a lawsuit of course.

  8. ouphie says:

When I was on, an older lady won a new car. She received a voucher for said car and was to pick it up at a local dealership. If this is the case, she should be going after the dealer.

I, however, missed my chance at a new car by blowing the bid in the showcase showdown.

  9. rockergal says:

wouldnt it be funny if her kid or someone wrecked it and tried to cover it up?

  10. homerjay says:

@Yankees368: Details make the headline uninteresting.

  11. spinachdip says:

@Yankees368: That’s what Bob Barker does to contestants who don’t neuter their pets.

  12. willray411 says:

I wonder what the taxes and license fee cost. Based on a new car price or a wrecked car price.

  13. Buran says:

@wring: You should “get over it” when a totalled car was resold as new to an unsuspecting customer? (they advertise these as new on the show).

This is outright fraud, of the financial and title sorts. I’d be talking to a lawyer here. Who knows what kind of safety violations were covered up by the shady repair shop?

  14. Xkeeper says:

@ouphie: This would make sense, which would push more of the problem towards the dealership and not the show.

More details are needed for this. As it is, it’s just playing the blame game.

  15. marsneedsrabbits says:

    Well, the car was new
    To her, anyway.
    Right?

  16. If you listen, Rod Roddy said “A brand used Car!!”. Just like Bush ’41 said, “No Blue Faxes”.

  17. hapless says:

    @seawallrunner:

Doesn’t matter. She paid taxes and fees on it as if it were worth as much as a car that hadn’t been in an accident.

  18. Craig says:

Why is this news now if it happened in 2004?
