The $307.06 Harry Potter DVD
We're guessing that this DVD came bundled with a carved, solid-wood goblet. (Thanks to Chris!)

I guess that that takes Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban to a whole new level...
I've worked at compusa, this would happen on occasion. When employees make tags they scan every item on a shelf and break apart the tags and put them up. If you miss tags you can end up having to make them again for whatever you missed. A manager would rather have a wrong tag than no tag. Also if a tag was made before the product should be released you would end up with something that might cost $112,807 reflecting the date it should be released. I'm sure this harry potter would not ring up to cost 300 dollars at the register.
First of all, this is either an old picture from last year or a year old tag, I can't read the small to date to see when it was printed. Second of all, 3/07/06 was the release date of this movie hence the price. All movies/games at CompUSA that have a street date will have these prices print up so that customers will not buy the game before release. There is nothing in this picture that is worthy of being posted here, it's just a waste of mine and everyone elses time. Oh, yes I do work at CompUSA, so if you have any other crazy things you need explaining I'm here :)
@Coder4Life: Circuit City does this with display fixtures that they don't own. In the system the Bose 321 Display is listed at $9999.99, and when all the tags would print for that brand we'd occasionally be handed one to put out on the shelf.
@Coder4Life: people who have time to make pointless comments about a thread they find stupid have no lives.
I was the one who sent in the picture (holy crap they posted my pic!), no PSing/GIMPing. I snapped it with my phone back in March of '06 and finally took the time to get the pictures off when my phone was going on the Bay...
I almost bought one but I realized they were out of stock...I went to the other CompUSA in town and scored 3. Crafty consumer am I...
@Steveo: Wait until cellphones get a better resolution cameras. (People carry cellphones, most of the time)
@chouchou: Better resolution won't help in this case, but macro function would.
The camera is too close to the subject, and all the pixels in the world won't make it less blurry (in fact, a quick fix for a blurry photo is dropping the resolution down). If you must use a cameraphone, take a step back and zoom in.
There is nothing in this picture that is worthy of being posted here...
@IanthePez: Did we miss the dollar sign in front of the 307.06?
I keep saying this but apparently is still bears repeating: this is posted here because it is funny.
Apparently this thing could have come with both the Goblet of Fire and The Triwizard Cup and it STILL would have been overpriced. (In other news I want both the Goblet of Fire and the Triwizard Cup.)
@shulkman:
For that price, it better have come with the Holy Grail...
Ah yes. Ees ver' nayce. We 'ave one.
At least there is at least 25% markup on it! I used to work at compusa, and (just in case anyone cares) the letters at the end of the UPC number on the tag represent mark up. A = 25%+, B = %20, C = %15, D = %10. Always helps to know so you know what you can try to 'deal' on. Any big purchase with an A is fair game, and D's are pretty firm. N's though are discontinued products and usually well below store cost, but they are usually still willing to come down on them just to get them out of the store.
@spinachdip: There is no zoom on my phone :) And all pictures we took with it always look blurry, no matter how far you're standing away from the ''subject''.

Looks photochopped to me....
