Man Breaks Into Carl's Jr. To Make Own Cheeseburgers

6852 views

Here's a bad idea: If the fast food restaurant of your choice is closed, simply break in and cook your own food.

That's what Ruben Manzano, 19, did when (after drinking) he became hungry and wanted some Carl's Jr. burgers.

In the restaurant, officers discovered Manzano's shoes, shirt and food that he had attempted to cook on the grill.

A security guard had spotted a shirtless man running north from the eatery.

Officers investigating the alarm call, which came in around 1:35 a.m., spotted a man, fitting the description given by the guard, running between houses in the 200 block of South Olive and the 200 block of South Fourth Street.

Manzano has been arrested on "suspicion of felony burglary of a structure" and is being held on $10,000 bail. Hope the burger was delicious.

He was framed by the Hamburgler.

I must just be dyslexic, but I could swear that the first sentence of the quote said that he tried to cook his shirt on the grill.

user-pic

I think somebody did this at a Domino's a few years ago. He blamed the advertisements for making the food look too tasty or something.

user-pic

@Jeff_McAwesome: Yup, I thought the same thing at first. The old 'dangling participle.'

user-pic

@AlteredBeast: Framed? This guy IS the Hamburglar!

user-pic

Well, so much for the "no shirt, no shoes no service" policy.

user-pic

Wait till the McMayor hears about this...

user-pic

@Scooter: That dude had to have been drinking : )

user-pic

I'm just trying to work out the logistics of this. Doesn't a lot of this kind of equipment have something like a 30-minute warm-up time?

user-pic

If he wanted a grilled shirt and shoe so badly, he should have just went to Jack in the Box.

user-pic

I can't help but admire his initiative.

user-pic

@Framling: Depends on the setting, to make grilled shirt and shoes it only needs to warm for about a minute.

user-pic

@Project Thanatos: Jeez, man, it's "Mayor McCheese" -- get it right! Show some respect for our elected, uh, sandwich-headed corporate mascot politicians.

user-pic

If he only would have clocked in first, no one would have noticed.

user-pic

I can't count the times I have contemplated doing something like this. In high school my friends and I worked at various fast food places (our group intentionally took jobs that would benefit the rest of the group by providing free food) because of this we had keys to probably 5 or 6 different places. We always came to the conclusion that no matter how delicious pizza t 3 am would be or some burritos at 2am, the benefit of free food was not worth the risk.

user-pic

BTW, that burger was fucking delicious.

Oh wait, this is consumerist, not passive-agressive notes.

Ruben Manzano aka The Hamburglar

user-pic

Isn't there a Wendy's that's open too late or even a 24-hour dive like White Castle or Double T? Geesh, talk about lack of research.

user-pic

Way for the consumer to stick it to the man!

user-pic

Must have been a moron if he can't figure out how to use a simple grill.

user-pic

@xtc46: Burritos at 2am? Taco Bell drivethrus are open that late.

user-pic

Another stupid criminal makes the news. Why are these stories so popular with the public?

user-pic

@STrRedWolf: Yeah most of the Carl's near me have the drive thru open 24 hours.

user-pic

@BigNutty: Because a lot of the pulic are stupid my friend. They take joy in putting others down, it helps them to prove that they are "smart". Because all the other idiots did something they either hadn't thought of or wouldn't do.

user-pic

@Nemesis_Enforcer: I know some McDonalds near me are also 24/7. I would imagine California would be just littered with "WE NEVER CLOSE" restraunts. They have "In-and-Out" over there, right?

user-pic

As Kenny Chesney would say. - "No Shoes, No Shirt, No problems."

user-pic

@STrRedWolf: Yep there are a few In n Outs near me. I think they close at midnight. Unfortunatly most of the we never close places are pretty awful late-night. I guess the drunks don't care.

user-pic

Carl's Jr. is to Hardees as Dreyer's Ice Cream is to Edy's?

user-pic

So was this person on some sort of mind altering drug, I mean come on beyond the breaking into a fast food restraunt thing what was with the lack of shirt shoes?

This whole thing makes no sense at all, which all things considered is not that suprising.
