Fake Med Promoted Via Fraudulent Government Health & Drug Watchdog Site
The Chinese government has discovered a fake diabetes medicine on a fake research institute website, which then links to a fake version of the official government health and drug watchdog agency's site. If you're paying attention to urls, it's hard to not notice that something's wrong—but we're sure there's more than enough people who don't notice that little detail.
The article isn't clear on whether or not the drug is entirely imaginary, or whether it's actually being sold as a treatment for diabetes. But either way, it's an over-the-top scam—and, what with the executions and all, we think a dangerous one to pull in China. It even managed to get a Chinese official to speak in English idioms, according to the article's quote:
"This site is definitely not for real," an official at the regulator was quoted as saying. "These lawbreakers have got some balls!"

The guys comment was brilliant. If I'm reading this right this is a a fake drug that the operators linked to a fake Chinese FDA site to validate the drug they were, or were going to, promote.
Do US citizens buy drugs from China? I couldn't imagine that.
They got two things, their balls and their drugs, and they break them for nobody
The United States is odd. Medicine is "too risky" to buy from Canada or Mexico, but some is manufactured in China, home of the Poison Train. Ah, the illogical world of politics.
@Namilia: It's too risky ''to buy in Canada'', because most drugs are cheaper here. Due to different provinces regulations, there is a max % that companies can raise drug prices every year. Even if prices go up quicker than inflation (way quicker, up to 20% per year), medicine is still cheaper.
Companies get less profit in Canada, so they bitch and moan that drugs are unsafe here.
(They made these drugs, often in US :)
So simple white lie, to get more money $$$
Obviously, you have buy medicine from a real pharmacist. Not online pharmacies, that can be FAKE, or a really good imitations. (Like in this case)
@Namilia: And lobbyists pass the message to the government. And most politicians can lie with a straight face.
I think "got some balls" has a rough equivalent in every language on the planet.
