A computer glitch at Kmart leads to everyone being granted store credit cards – and a large-scale brawl erupting.. Two women started scrapping and then several men got involved. A Kmart worker was punched in the nose and smashed through a glass display case. Customers were calling up friends and telling them to come down to get the “free money,” $850 to $4000 in credit After applications ran out, one customer grabbed more from another Kmart and started selling them in the parking lot for $20 a pop. Watch out, when the American Dream is a blue-light special, consumers are liable to get bloodthirsty.

One of the reasons why it is ok to be racist towards white people is the white man feels guilty for the sins of his forefathers and is afraid to speak up. @trollkiller: Seriously! At this point yeah I can acknowledge we did some f’d up stuff. But what can I do about it? I didn’t do it my dad didn’t do it his dad didn’t do it at what point can it just be part of history. What I really hate is everyone else can have “pride” in thier race but whites. If we have pride in our accomplishments we are all of a sudden a hate group. And I don’t mean the nutballs in the aryan nation type pride. What is funny to me is the classification of white. It seems pretty broad to me but out here in Socal it seems that everyone is a lot more particular. I have friends whose parents were born in Armenia if you ask them they will ID themselves as Aremenian and not white. While another friend who came from Mexico city and is whiter than I am with Blue eyes and blonde hair does not ID himself as Mexican. He calls himself white.
But what people fail to realize is so did everyone else. It’s not like we invented being bad. I guess to me it seems like everyone convieniently forgets that other races have been doing the same thing to each other since we crawled outta da pond.. As a species we are almost predisposed to put up barriers to people we view as different or worth less in our minds.
I don’t see how this would work right unless you are using someone else’s social security number than your own. Otherwise, Kmart will just correct the mistake later and you owe $4,000. You would have nothing prove otherwise and would be stuck with a debt.
If you are using social security numbers that are not your own, you will get prosecuted for a federal offense and looking at some time.
If you are using your own, you are screwed anyways. They will just check their logs for the day at all affected locations on who was approved and make corrections.
So in the end, no free money here, just more people ruining their credit or going to jail.
Okay, unlike most of the people barking in this thread about what sort of population was involved in this melee…
I’ve actually shopped at this Kmart back when it wasn’t a huge annoying depressing chore to do so. That was a long, long time ago. Any time since then that I’ve set foot in this shop, merchandise is all over the place, the cashiers and workers don’t care about anything, and the population who shops there regularly are pretty rude and classless people. It feels dirty and you want to shake your bags out after you leave the store lest you picked up some sort of ‘guest’ traveling with you as you perused the aisles. Makes for a really unpleasant shopping experience.
This melee does not surprise me one bit, and it only amazes me that it doesn’t happen on a weekly basis. And it’s also the reason I choose to drive 10 miles to a decent Kmart rather than 5 to this particular Kmart. This one should burn to the ground, frankly. It’s that bad. It didn’t have to be, but they insist on hiring the worst managers who hire the worst people and it compounds itself until you have situations like this brawl erupting and making headline news.
The reason why it is free money is that these people probably have bad credit and have no intentions of paying off the credit card.
If it weren’t for the computer glitch, they would not have been approved and would not have been able to get their “free money” by ripping off K-Mart/Citibank.
No worry though. The people will ignore/hide from the collections agencies and Citibank will sell even more of itself to the middle east!
