Washington Mutual Refunds Fees To Wildfire Victims
A Washington Mutual insiders tells us that the bank will refund overdraft fees for victims of the California wildfires, if they couldn't get to an ATM, as well as ATM surcharges if they were forced to use non-WaMu machines. WaMu customer service confirmed the report. Victims can claim their refund by calling or visiting a branch location. A small but noble gesture, certainly better than AT&T | Dish asking customers if they remembered to pick up their receiver on their way out of the house and charging them $300 for not.

Wow, a gesture of goodwill from a bank. Almost sounds like a marketing campaign to me...
I've had a WaMu account for years, and they're actually very good about refunding fees, even if the circumstances aren't exactly extraordinary. This isn't anything new from them, in my experience.
They can use the refund money to purchase a satellite from a different company when they get settled back in.
WAMU is great in my opinion. I did have some troubles with them in getting my business accounts ATM deposits accepted, but the resolved the issue by sending me an endorsement stamp and refunding me all my overdraft charges.
While they're at it, they should refund the $2,000 dollars that vanished from my friend's bank account.
AT&T (see recent story) sure could learn a lesson from WaMu on how to treat customers affected by a disaster like those wildfires.
