Wow, White Castle... Congratulations.. I guess??

user-pic

Jesus, White Castle wants everyone dead.

user-pic

And to think....White Castle fries only come in one size!

user-pic

I've never even seen a White Castle or a Jack in the Box :-\

user-pic

Notice that the White Castle burger is not on the list. French fries aside, if you go to White Castle and don't order a sack of slyders, you are just asking for trouble anyway.

user-pic

Someone should really warn Harold and Kumar.

user-pic

@Sathallrin: Me neither.

They have Krystal joints down here instead of White Castle but you can find White Castle burgers in the froze food section of the grocery stores. (Damn, now I want one.)

White Castle Chicken Rings
What the Hell are Chicken Rings?

Jack in the Box Bacon Cheddar Potato Wedges
I'm surprised that isn't higher on the list given it's name.

user-pic

Didn't KFC go transfat free? Or was it "transfat free"?

user-pic

I wonder how Five Guys would fare.

Mmmm... that sure was a good lunch no matter!

user-pic

We don't have White Castle on the west coast but we do have Jack in the Box. Best fast food milkshake's around.

user-pic

@Sathallrin:

Same here. I have seen Jack in the Box commercials on local tv, but still have no idea where one is or what it served...

Not much trans fat there.

@Rectilinear Propagation:

What the Hell are Chicken Rings?

Exactly what you think it is - "chicken" pounded into a ring shape, breaded and fried. If the uniformity of normal fast food chicken nuggest creeps you out, these things will absolutely give you the jibblies.

From the AHA website: ...."For example, a sedentary female who is 31-50 years old needs about 2,000 calories each day. Therefore, she should consume less than 16 g saturated fat, less than 2 g trans fat, and between 50 and 70 grams of total fat each day (with most fats coming from sources of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, such as fish, nuts, seeds and vegetable oils).".....There are many caveats regarding total intake of trans fat. Be careful what you read.

user-pic

It's also worth keeping in mind that many foods that advertise "0g trans fat!!!omghealthy!!" STILL CONTAIN TRANS FAT, just less than .5g per serving. A handful of major food brands have decreased their serving sizes to put the trans fat per serving right below that exact mark.

Basically, if the ingredients list partially hydrogenated anything, you probably shouldn't eat it.

user-pic

Actually, the full list is different than this list.

It's 30grams in the WC onion rings

user-pic

Wow! Good thing it would never cross my mind to order a single one of those items (even if we had Jack in the Box in this market).

user-pic

White Castle is the only place in my area (besides the diners) that's open at 3.30 am after the bars close.
But I don't understand the quantities…are you supposed to eat 20 chicken rings? and how much is in a 'sack'? My usual order is 1 Chicken ring sandwich w/o cheese, one order of fish nibblers, and one order of clam strips. I definitely do not order the sack.

user-pic

@Starfury: OMG yes. Jack in the Crack's milkshakes are insanely good.

user-pic

dear america,
would you please be quiet and quit stalling? hurry up and squeeze every last gram of fat down your swollen gullet and die already. we need the room.
sincerely,
mother earth

user-pic

Super Size! Super Size!
We want trans fat in our fries!

Oreo cookies just aren't the same anymore since they dropped the trans fat.....

user-pic

FWIW I recommend zero trans fat per day. If you can't get through your day without some, you're doing it wrong...

user-pic

@FatLynn: yes. wtf are Chicken Rings? And do I really want to know? Is this like a poor man's calamari?

user-pic

mmm makes me wish we had White Castle out here. For now I'll have to settle for Bacon Cheddar Potato Wedges. They really are worth the trans fat. The portions could be larger though...if they had man-sized portions they'd be topping the list no problem.

The exclusions make me wonder how much is really in them. Del Taco and Carl's are frequent stops for me, and neither was included in the trans fat census.

user-pic

Look at it this way: White Castle has cured skinneyness. They should be rewarded a Nobel Prize for this.

btw: How did "Uncle Fat Backs Batter Dipped Fat Strips" miss the list?

Jack in the Box WiNS by a Trans-Slide:
# Jack in the Box: 24

# White Castle: 16
# A&W: 10
# Dairy Queen: 8
# McDonald's: 5

# KFC: 2

I love the rhetoric, but I sure wish you guys would drop all those unnecessary apostrophes.
