Nordstrom will be cutting prices due to weak September sales and larger than expected inventory. Look for deals in women's and juniors apparel, as they are overstocked. [Seattle P-I]

Geez. Hyperbole much?
Nordstroms is having a sale = Economy getting flushed.
Low inflation, low interest rates, low unemployment, high consumer confidence, high exports, deficit at 1% of GDP are more relevant signs of the economy's health.
I was in Nordstroms in King of Prussia PA last week. Almost every mens sport shirt was $175 and up. I dunno...maybe there just arent that many guys looking for $225 caual shirts a couple of weeks before holiday shopping begins.
not to sound like a douche or anything, but i sure do hope that i can find a $400 undershirt on sale for my $800 shirt and my new $1600 sweater. my $3200 jacket looks good with my $6400 watch, but my $12800 car doesnt match. i drive a kia, but its a nice gold color to reflect my lifestyle!
glam it up! oh no i di--int!
im so glad nordstrom is having a sale! hooray 300% markup with 30% off!
@mammalpants: Nordstrom is not nearly that expensive. You may be thinking or Neiman Marcus.
And Mojosan -- Nordstrom ain't having a "sale" -- they are in clearance mode as they overestimated fall sales significantly. The pickings will be sweet.
Nordstrom is good for some things. I hate shopping/spending money in general, but sometimes you just need to drop a few bucks on essentials.
When I need jeans, shoes, or hoisery, I only go to Nordstrom. The cost is worth the quality. I don't wear that many items, so most of my clothes go through a lot of washings. The $90 jeans I bought in high school are still holding up, but the jeans I bought last summer from Macy's saw the zipper break and the button fall off within months. I'm also one of those women with really odd proportions that most clothing brands don't cater to. When I shop at a lot of stores, I have to buy clothes 2-3 sizes too big. Nordrom seems to cater to more shapes with their selections.
There's also Nordstrom Rack, which is the past season's items marked down and thrown in a TJ-Maxx style store.
The best part is that their sales associates are friendly, not uppity. I hate being treated like a thief when I'm trying to buy things!

Hhhhhmmmm...what's that I hear? Oh, but that doesn't sound a bit like the beginnings of our economy being flushed down the proverbial toilet, does it? [/sarcasm]
I suppose that is what happens when people can no longer go shopping with the money they're pulling out of the ATMs on the side of their homes.
This is only a drop in the bucket, people.
