I have no doubt in my mind that Jack Thompson is actually on Rockstar's payroll. I never even heard about Manhunt until that asshat started spouting off about it. His rants on GTA are even more hilarious.
If you think its too violent for your kids then... don't buy it. Simple as that, I don't see a ban on R rated movies at the theater or a ban from selling them in stores and people getting in an uproar about it.
But yes it could help sell more games, because as soon as kids find out its considered a bad game by parents, they immediately want it so they can look cool to their friends for having it.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Penny Arcade comics about Jack Thompson... that load. If it turns out he DOES work for a software company under the table though, the joke would be on ME for buying all the crap he assails in the media.
When Frogger came out, there wasn't a rash of kids trying to cross busy highways, so I don't buy the concept.
I know that's how I hear of what video games I should consider playing
