RC2 Sues Munchkin, Inc For "Sippy Cup" Patent Infringement

RC2, whom you probably know as the company that makes the lead-tainted Thomas & Friends toys, has filed a lawsuit against rival Munchkin, INC for allegedly infringing on a spill-proof sippy cup patent.

Munchkin, INC, which had no comment for the Chicago Sun-Times about the matter, does display a note on their spill-proof sippy cup product page proclaiming: Patents pending.

what would be patented on that? you see that exact cup from TONS of companies. Hell, I’ve got several in my cabinet right now. And spill-proof? I doubt it. I’ve tested various sippy cups on two kids now and every one has leaked.

Wait, what?! RC2 is suing over a freaking patent for freakin’ sippy cup?! Come on, think of the children. Why won’t anyone think of the children?! Parents should have the right to buy sippy cups from any company. Not just the one that also makes toys with lead.

What it looks like: Consumers are avoiding RC2 products. It looks suspiciously like RC2 would like Munchkin to suffer along with them as they lose sales due to leaded toys.
Maybe if they spent more time on toy safety than potentially purloined sippy cup technology, I’d consider purchasing their toys again.
Don’t they know that every time they end up in the news right now, everyone thinks: lead?
    Don’t they care?
