Is this really shocking? Ionizing radiation probably caused a mutation in the bacteria's DNA causing it to become evil. or something.
What happens if it goes through space, then to Mars, then back though space to earth? Yikes!
Maybe it's because there are less things to kill the bacteria in space and it can grow faster and stronger.
