Ditto on the scammers - my bf and I want to get closer together and all I can get from job sites is scams. Fortunately I set up an alias to my real email address so I can kill the spam just by turning off the alias, but I'm getting nowhere and my only solid lead vanished when the company lied to me, then called me unprofessional when I called them on it, and now won't give me the time of day.

I am now hoping that the bf will be seriously willing to look at coming here, especially since there's a pretty good possibility or three here where I work for exactly his line of work.

It's really sad that you can't even look for a new job/career without someone trying to cheat you, and with something as stressful and frustrating as this you'd think people would have a heart.

Chivalry is not only dead, it's turned to dust.

I don't get the weird fox job ads either -- I've seen much-better-done anthropomorphic animal artwork and every time I see that ad it just looks so horribly done I have to skip forward just to not have to stare at it.

I wouldn't take a "work at home" job that wasn't from a reliable employer, either. 90% of the ones you hear about from no-name outfits are scams, money laundering, or pyramid schemes (see 'scams').

If you have kids and want a good review of a movie, forget the rating and go to kids-in-mind.com

user-pic

Kids-in-mind is the best site for movie reviews for kids. They tell you everything you need to know as a parent. I wish they had older movies, but anything after 95 is pretty much there.

Yeah Monster.com is packed with scams now. Does anyone still work in Monster.com? Its like theres no support or service anymore. Id rather check out Craigslist.

user-pic

@mandarin: I haven't found anything there either. Plus the site design is so bad that it makes me want to smack someone.

user-pic

@mandarin: Craigslist is good, but it also has its fair share of scams. I responded to one ad for contract web developer positions and got an immediate reply back with a link. Can't say what was on the other side of it because my web browser wouldn't let me through to see it (Yay spam blockers!).

If you're looking for a Tech position, you'll have better luck at Dice.com.

@twoply: Oh yeah! Kind of a discussion beyond the comments here.

Nice place! ;)

@jeremyduffy: The problem is that they sent an unrated version of the movie instead of the PG-13, not that the PG-13 movie turned out to be inappropriate. Kids-in-mind, while a very good idea, wouldn't have prevented this.

@twoply: Yes, it's here: [consumerist.proboards88.com]

Hey, Consumerist, could y'all have a link on the home page that links to the forum?

user-pic

Ditto on the there's a forum?

I actually got a good job on Monster. Uploaded my resume and a month later got a good interview, stayed there for a while. Since I'm not looking for a job anymore I took it down, but I don't recall ever getting spammed.

user-pic

@silencedotcom: Ok, I guess that forward link doesn't work anymore. Use the proboards.88 one instead :-p

I use Spam Motel's website (google it). It creates a unique email address that I can post of websites. Then, if I start getting a lot of spam, I know where it come from and can stop it.

user-pic

@silencedotcom: The address is "consumeristforums.com."

What really aggravates me is that when I go into Blockbuster (I don't anymore, because I've got Netflix) there are shelves of a movie that has been released in an un-rated format. Fine, they want to do that and make more money off salacious details off the cutting room floor. But when those come in, Blockbuster acts as if no one ever wants to watch the movie as it was originally presented in theaters, and takes all of the original discs off the shelf. So either I watch a movie that is "unrated" or I don't watch it at all? PG-13 is not rated R for a reason, Blockbuster taking away my option to watch the PG-13 movie and thrusting what is basically a rated R version (without all the hassle of going through the MPAA) is stupid.

user-pic

@silencedotcom: Lol. Way to mangle the URL to the forums Silence. Good thing you're not a moderator there...oh wait.

@MissJ: Or.... the movie just isn't released in a rated version.
