I’m pretty sure the EU is in the right on this one. If we waited around for the US and it’s Corporations to do anything positive regarding the air pollution caused by air traffic, we wouldn’t get anywhere. As it is, as a person flying from/to the UK, I pay more in air taxes/fees – some of which are used to offset the carbon footprint of my flight – than my kin from the US. The fact is, unless the US et. al. takes some responsibility, we’ll never see the light at the end of the tunnel regarding global climate issues.
Good for them! Someone needs to play hardball about this. We only have one Earth so we only get one chance to get this right.
