Is the world ready for Martha Stewart-themed wine?
Oh, apparently. Martha will be slapping her name onto some Gallo wine, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Although Ernest & Julio will be producing the wine, the Gallo name won’t be on the label.
From the WSJ:
Dubbed Martha Stewart Vintage, the $15-a-bottle wine — in chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and merlot — will be produced and distributed by closely held E.&J. Gallo Winery, of Modesto, Calif., and made from grapes grown primarily in Sonoma County, Calif., these people said. A rosé version is under consideration for future releases in the line.
For some reason this makes us laugh.

If it is anything like the other Martha stuff at K-Mart….
I was going to make a joke about the wine, but that picture left me torn between crappy wine jokes and easy pearl necklace jokes…
It must taste angry and disgusting.

I think she must be sampling it herself if she thinks her brand still has enough cachet to sell wine.
What does she have, something like $30 billion in assets or something? Maybe she’s just pulling suggestions out of a hat and givin’em a whirl.
People are still in love with Martha and will no doubt buy it.
I just find it humorous that she’s taking another brand and just slapping her name on it.

“Celebrity” wines generally suck hard. The fact the Gallo is the vintner guarantees is. There is so much good, solid, inexpensive wine for ego trip BS like this.
Finally, she’s using a skill she learned in jail… nothing goes down as smooth as Martha Stewart’s Prison Hootch.

Actually, they’re not just using E&J wine for this. Though she’s totally using their grapes (bulk sourced from god-knows-where, hence the “California” designation), and she’s totally using their staff and production lines, to my knowledge, this is a lineup blended separately from the other E&J wines.
Martha often drinks on the late show with Conan so I would think what she would know here wine.
I bet Martha could whip up some amazing pruno [url][en.wikipedia.org]] at Camp Cupcake.
