The U.S. House of Representatives approved "passenger rights" legislation today when it approved a bill to fund the Federal Aviation Administration. The passenger rights amendment gives the government the ability to force airlines to change their schedules if they "aggravated delays by operating too many flights at peak periods at the busiest airports." Also included in the bill: a hike on the passenger facility charge on a ticket, from $4.50 to $7. [Reuters]

Spectacular! Yet ANOTHER fee hike.

Does the extra $2.50 go to improving the dated guidance infrastructure that is supposedly causing all the problems?
If not, let's call it a stamp tax and get it over with.

What a joke. This bill was totally gutted from it's original intentions (actual rights) and turned into a fee hike.

Am I the only one that thinks its sadly ironic that today, the House passed the "passenger bill of rights" when yesterday the Senate voted down a move to reinstate Habeas Corpus? So... people can't be confined to an airplane sitting on the tarmac against their will, but can be imprisoned indefinitely without being told what they are charged of.

*sigh*
