"Officials at Nepal's state-run airline have sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu sky god, following technical problems with one of its Boeing 757 aircraft, the carrier said Tuesday." It also fixed the plane in a more mechanical way, but has declined to say what was wrong with it. [Reuters]

Interesting to note: Saudi Arabia airlines has a pre-flight prayer. The flight safety record of the airline is actually very good, but there is something slightly disconcerting for a Godless heathen like me to hear "allah u-akhbar" over the loudspeaker before taking off. Though I suppose this makes it the airline least likely to be hijacked by self-righteous, murderous Islamist douchebags. (Not to be confused with Muslims in general, please.)

Hey, at least they're trying SOMETHING! American and United would just blow off technical problems.
