In July, federal regulators launched a new website, HelpWithMyBank.gov, to answer your basic bank-related questions, as well as to provide an easy way to lodge complaints about any of the 1,800 offending financial institutions that fall under its purview. (Yes, that includes Chase and BofA.)

At the site, you can find straightforward information on topics such as interest rates, credit scores, and bank fees and requirements. If you’re looking for a loophole that will give you the upper hand against an abusive bank, chances are you won’t find it in the website’s by-the-book explanations. However, if you just need to confirm basic information about banking practices, it’s a great resource.

Best of all, they have a “file a complaint” service that’s easy to use and that clearly explains what to do and what you can expect.
