@B: I believe he's referring to the personal, friendly, bend-over-backward nature of the supermarket in the 60's. He didn't say "product evolution", he said "supermarket evolution"

I am at the site and expected that on the front page...am I missing it?
These days, the selection is light-years ahead of what we had in 1968. And fresher, too. In some stores, like Publix, the employees can't wait to help you, either.
What you don't have, though, is a manager who you might have grown up with. Likely, it's someone from out of town. And no, the grocery store won't run you a tab for a month or two when you fall on hard times. You negotiate that stuff with VISA, or Titlemax, these days...
Really, so we should go back to the days when vegetables came wrapped in plastic, everything had to be rung up by hand, and spaghetti was something that came in a can? Thanks, but I'll pass.
